I have just wondered if there has been any update on the sig brace. all I could find when I have searched for it has been stuff from back in January didn't know if there had been any new updates or rulings on the issue of redesigngor use of the sig brace Thanks
-
Last I heard BATFE ruled it was fine as manufactured ... but I have no link to that announcement.
-
I know they didnt remove it from manufacture, how it can or cannotbe utilized was more my question. Wondered if there are any updates on that.
-
It can be used as an arm brace as origanaly intended. Useing it as as a shoulder stock would be illegal.

That's what I read too.

Ok thats what I had read too, but then I read the atf definition of re design was being challenged. Just was curious
Thanks

Not that anything about our current government or its agencies make any sense....but...let's say you had this:
And you put the end of the buffer tube into your shoulder pocket and then rested your cheek on that foam cover...
Has the ATF commented on that?
-
You mean like one of these?

Suarez posted a picture with his cheek welded to the recoil buffer of a similar pistol and commented that it worked just fine like that. No need for shoulder mount.

I question how much of that is accurate, and how much is due to the fact that he has been shooting since the stone age.

Good thing Gabe doesn't read this forum. ;D
When I finally get to the 100yd range, I'll test various, legal of course <cough> <cough>, and see what I can do.
-
;D OK, maybe not the "Stone Age" but he has a lot more rounds down range than the average person.
I'm interested in seeing your results.

Here's my take on "legality" and usage:
If the ATF says the thing is legal to make....
and legal to own....
and only 'becomes' illegal when you use it in ways not intended by design, such as placing against your shoulder.......
then I submit: who's monitoring said usage to make sure of compliance?
I mean, if you are practicing home defense scenarios at the range or doing dry-fire drills at home, who's watching to bust you for it?
Now if you use the thing in a high profile way, such as a "caught on tape" situation, then it's just one more charge for the DA to levy against you.
But in a SHTF scenario, that's the least of your worries, I reckon.

Good point PegLeg!
Is just shouldering it taking a sight picture illegal?
What if you don't fire any shots?
What if you video yourself shouldering it 10 times and then post the video to YouTube?
Are the Feds going to arrest you for _________? And then bring you up on 10 counts of _______?
Could you imagine if that went to a jury trial?
I could just imagine some of the jurors' thoughts: "Really? They brought me here? For this?"
-
If shouldering it magically turns into an SBR, wouldn't attaching it to your forearm then magically turn it back into a pistol? Would stirring soup with it magically turn it into a spoon?
So, logically, if she weighs the same as a duck...

I don't want to be the one sitting behind the defendant's table. Juries aren't given all the information that you and I would want. They are only allow to consider the "facts" and the prosecutor works hard to limit what jury gets to hear.
