I wonder if they were lubed.  There are some lubes that use animal products.  I can see a dog being attracted to one of those.

If you read the article TAB you would have learned that this dog eats many items.  The list isn't dependent on flavor as much as just being available.

One of my neighbors had a dog that ate rocks. I don't know what kind of dog it was but I called it a rock hound. It died way too young probably from all the rocks it ate. I don't know if they ever did surgery on it but I suspect not.
