Title: Huge Private Collection Sale On The Way?
Post by: Rastus on August 13, 2008, 07:30:21 AM
Seems as though JM Davis Foundation attorney Steve Peters is saying the State of Oklahoma and others are not fulfilling a contract and are threatening to dissolve the agreement and sell, what is claimed, the largest private gun collection in the world.  The JM Davis Museum may be dissolved and the guns sold to collectors.

There are 20,000 guns in the collection which was turned over to the state in 1967 for preservation.  A state audit showed 125 guns missing a couple of years ago.

Here's a brainstorming thought (this means I had a brainfart that MIGHT be worth talking about):

Is this a situation where the NRA could step in and run and manage this museum for the State of OK?  It could fit right in with their expertise of running a firearm museum, and save an existing organization.  I would think that if any state would be willing to work with the NRA that OK might be one of them.

+1 However, they would need to go to a good home where they would be cherished and fondled regularly.
I got dibs on the Trapdoor Springfield. ;)
