My icemaker started giving me trouble. The ice was freezing into big clumps instead of the individual cubes, and jamming up the whole deal. I figured the evaporator coils must be dust covered and dirty, so we pulled it out. I found huge clumps of dust everywhere behind, and underneath the unit. I took off the back panel to expose the cooling coils and fan, and everything was completely packed with dust!
I vacuumed what I could, (which wasn't much), then I opened the kitchen sliding glass door all the way and put a box fan on "High", blowing out into the back yard. I have one of those portable 5 gallon air tanks I filled to 120 PSI with my air compressor, and blew out the underneath, back, fan, coils, everything. If I could get the nozzle in, it got blasted. You wouldn't believe what came out of there! I hated to do it that way, but it's the only way you can get all of that crap out of there. That was my problem for sure! I've never cleaned it since we bought it about 4 years ago. Now I'll do it every 6 months or so, that way it won't get that bad. It had to be running constantly because of that. It's a messy PITA job, but one you guys might want to think about doing.
-
You're right. It‘s messy but the best way to clean out all that junk.
-
It was just within the last week that I was telling my mom you should clean it at least once a year and that I needed to do mine, but I still haven't cleaned it. It must have been a couple years ago that I last vacuumed it with my shop vac. I never thought about blowing it out with an air compressor. I don't have a nozzle for mine.

You can get pneumatic air nozzles, hoses, tanks, and compressors quite inexpensively at Harbor Freight. I bought my compressor about 30 years ago from a place called Farm & Fleet back in Illinois, before we moved out here. They're a lot like Tractor Supply. It's really worth it to get a nozzle and hose and blow them out. There are just too many places you can't get at with a vacuum that dirt and dust gets trapped. Especially in the newer models. Like I said, you won't believe how much crap you'll blow out of the thing.
It made an unbelievable difference. Mine is really working well now. After we cleaned everything, and rolled it back. I plugged it in, and within about 4 hours everything was MUCH colder. The ice maker is really working much faster, and dispensing better. I should have known better than to let it go that long. I won't again.

I almost bought a cheap no name air compressor from Harbor Freight but they didn't come with a hose or anything. Instead I bought a Campbell Hausfeld brand at Sears for a little less and it came with a hose and air chuck. I think I'll go back to Sears to see if I can get a nozzle and two quick release couplers. http://www.chpower.com/productdetail/inflation-and-fastening-2-gallon-air-compressor-with-accessory-kit_fp209000av

My nozzle has an 18" extension on the end. Check around because they sell them that way now. I brazed a piece of 1/4" brass tubing on the end of mine. It works great for getting into the really hard to reach spots. That stuff is really packed in underneath there.
-
most shop vacs have a blow option, buying a small crevice tool is cheap( under $10) and works great.
-
Something I saw but never tried is to take the cardboard tube from a roll of paper towel and flatten one end, attach it to your shop vac and you have a crevice tool for free.
-
having tried that with stiffer tubes( masking paper, several times thicker) it does not work.
here is a kit for $15

they are also useful for cleaning coffee out of keyboards.... we have all been there.

no the news, and its not from me laughing but me hurling did you see that the sc is not hearing the gun ban in sf today. so if you own a hand gun in the city of sf you must have it locked or disabled with a trigger lock
so glad I left that hell hole of a state. just sucks that a few times a year I have to fly to the bay for fundraising for a foundation I started. on the plus side I have gotten a few people to take over a lot of my duties. so now I am just kind of the HNIC, where as before I was every thing from the HNIC to the guy that cleans the toliets. still trying to reach to the goal of 100% donations go straight to the cause. I am getting closer. at about 98% now. office expenses are killing it. working on getting them donated. travel exp is coming out of my pocket.

Don't Heller and McDonald cover that ?
I know the ban on guns in City housing was overturned by the SAF a couple years ago.
If that pisses you off, wait till you hear the TRUE story about the Texas cop and the black girl in the bikini !
http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/06/08/mckinney-homeowners-subjected-to-pool-party-ruckus-defend-and-thank-cops/
Homeowners in the neighborhood who were witnesses to the ruckus at the McKinney, Texas, neighborhood community pool both defended the officers who have been attacked about their handling of the situation, and thanked them for coming to their aid and keeping them safe.
Breitbart Texas reported about the left media condemning the police in McKinney for how they handled a private subdivision pool party when 70 uninvited teens and others showed up and engaged in everything from pot smoking to assault at the party.
Teens who were not invited climbed the fence to get in. The trouble began when they were asked to leave.
Peace officers were called to the scene because the teens were not only engaging in trespass, and allegedly drinking and smoking pot, they also assaulted a mother with three children.
Breitbart Texas reported the assault and violence at the party which was portrayed as an “innocent pool party” by the left media. Law enforcement officers were called because of the violence that was occurring there. A video of the assault is included in the article.
The liberal media has concentrated on one officer’s actions in responding to the situation, and not the teens who were committing trespass, assault, and other crimes.
McKinney community residents were reported to have said they believed the “officers’ safety was at risk.”
A review of the video right before the officer pulled his gun, shows two black teenagers coming up behind him on his gun side as he was bending over. One of these teenagers was rather large. The officer then pulled his weapon but quickly returned it to his holster after the two teenagers ran away.
This photo was posted on Twitter by Lauren Zakalik who wrote “One #McKinneyTX resident visibly and vocally supporting the officers, says he saw whole thing Friday.”

Another homeowner appeared on camera on Fox4 in Dallas but only her hands were filmed. She said “I feel absolutely horrible for the police and what’s going on … they were completely outnumbered and they were just doing the right thing when these kids were fleeing and using profanity and threatening security guards.”
Bryan Gestner, a resident, put this message on his Facebook page:
This was a Twitter party that turned mob event. Jumping pool fence. Assaulting 2 security guards, attacking a mother with three little girls. The video doesn’t show everything. … I commend the officer for handling this situation.
Gestner also said the kids who trespassed on the event were smoking marijuana and drinking and would not listen to the adults at the pool. He added:
This isn’t about race … This is about outside kids invading our neighborhood and had no respect for authority or the residents here.
While those who saw a few seconds of the video quickly condemned the police officer, others on social media had different reactions.
Bob Owens took to Twitter and commented “Observation: Most of the people who routinely bash the police are criminals, family members of criminals, or naïve teens.”

Mr. Owens also correctly noted that the girl in question in the video “turned [back around] and RETURNED talking junk to the officer. This is failure to disperse, a crime.”
In fact, the #McKinney video shows that the girl turned and RETURNED talking junk to the officer. This is failure to disperse, a crime.

As reported by Breitbart Texas, “A person commits an offense if he intentionally flees from a peace officer attempting lawfully to arrest or detain him,” and “An officer may lawfully detain individuals if there is a reasonable suspicion that the person engaged in unlawful action, like fighting or trespass.”
If there were individuals trespassing on private property because they did not have consent to be there, and they were told that entry was forbidden (signs or verbal communications that the community pool was only for private residences in the area), or were asked to leave and they did not, they were committing the crime of trespass. Fighting is an assault, another crime.
And peace officers have the lawful right to detain individuals if there is reasonable suspicion that the person was engaged in unlawful action, like fighting or trespass, or smoking pot.
Individuals could also be arrested or detained for interfering with the duties of a peace officer and evading arrest, and one adult male was arrested for these offenses.
At the very least, when a peace officer tells you to leave the premises, you need to leave.
Bob Owens posted on Twitter that “The girl who became the center of the #McKinney video was part of a group that was told repeatedly to disperse. Most left. She didn’t.”

Wait so black teens were acting badly... this is news to who exactly? One of the good Reverends?
-
This type of silly bull$h!t is never ending with these blacks. The communist loving media in this country is so damn twisted and PC, only a fool, (or a liberal, both one in the same), would believe what they report at face value. All I've got to see and hear are these blacks screaming at the cops and acting like a bunch of animals, and you know damn good and well there is far more to what's going on, than the 30 second video and sound bite they show.
-
It's even worse than that. In this case, the liberal media are knowingly taking criminals and portraying them as victims while slandering cops.
-
That cop was far more lenient with that screaming bikini broad than I would have been. I would have washed her face with that pistol. For some reason, people seem to think you now have an option to do what the cop tells you to. And if you don't, they have to be satisfied with your belligerent actions. We see how well that is working out nationwide.

Well, my icemaker started acting up again, (ice clumping), with the whole deal jamming up again. Turns out I needed a whole new icemaker, ($320.00 installed). It's a one piece unit that does everything. The thing has a heater that is supposed to run momentarily to allow the ice to drop free. Mine was sticking "on" too long causing the wet ice cubes to freeze into a solid mass in the bin. Now the thing runs and dispenses ice faster than it ever did before. Even when it was new.
It was really easy to replace, (they just have one tab holding them, and one flat pin plug connecting them). I found them on line for just $139.00. So if and when this one takes a dump, I'll do it myself next time.
