What's your thoughts? I saw one at the LGS yesterday. It's really got me thinking. Black or two tone? 9 or .40? It could really complement my HK P2000 .40 or my G19. Decisions....

From the outside, it would seem FN is well positioned to provide the nexgen sidearm for the armed forces. The provide about everything else. If I weren't such a S&W snob, and stockholder, I might very well go for the FNS line. Of course, and you did ask, forget .40. Either go big, .45, or go 9.

I've been a FNH fan ever since picking up a FNP-9 many years ago. When the FNS came out I knew I needed one. Sadly it has been quite the disappointment. It is accurate and handles well, as expected, but there are a couple of issues I can't get past.
One is the trigger. It is really gritty and rough. Even after lots of dry firing and a couple of hundred rounds through the gun it still, well, sucks. The second is the slide release. It is positioned just right to be wrong for me. The protective molding around it really digs into my right thumb. Yeah, I could train around it but since it isn't a problem with any of my other handguns I'm not going to.
Maybe I got a lemon of a trigger but I am going to have to find a new home for the FNS.

9mm is less expensive to shoot. On the other hand pistol performance has traditionally been based on the idea of big holes bleeding faster.
Black or 2 tone ? I've always preferred solid color, never have cared for the 2 tone finishes unless it involved engraving.
Ichiban, It sounds like your pistol has a magazine disconnect, they often cause the trigger pull to royally suck. Ask a high power owner. What they often do is have the disconnect removed .

The slide on the black model and the two-tone are both stainless steel. I don't know which would look better after years of hard use but I'm a fan of plain stainless. I think I would get a 9mm because it holds 2 more rounds and ammo should be a little cheaper.

That's the way I'm leaning. I'll wait and rent one to verify caliber, but right now I'm thinking black 9mm.
