There was an old timer in a shooting club I was in twenty plus years ago who cast his own bullets, and he used bacon grease as a fluxing agent. I don't know if it worked as well as a normal flux, but he thought it did.....and I wasn't gonna argue with him.

Those lube sticks for tapping that they use in factories are bacon grease.
