So I'm striping a Parking lot today, I've got the 1st row of it taped off with cones, and cuation tape. Well this crown vic pulls up, and a guy in a suit, gets out, tears my tape, and parks. Now there is about 25 free parking places, I'm just restriping the ones up from a ADA complaince walk thru I did...
" Sir, you can't park there" " I just did" And he went into eat.
Wrong thing to say to some one striping lines in 105 degree temps in the shade( about 135 on the black top)
So I called up the towing company, the property owner( more on her later) and had it towed( I love that local law)... Anyways about 15 mins later, the guy comes out, asks where his car is, I point to the sign, and say call the number of the towing company and the local PD number.... " I'm under sheriff...." ( the county thats right next door to where I working) he flashs his bagde, and says he is going to have me arrested for having his car towed. Rright about then, the property owner shows up. " What did you just say to my client?" Now the propery owner in this case, also happens to be my lawyer. Lets just say, after calling his legal deptment the undersherrif stomped off pissed and was picked up by a cab.
I'm sure this is going to come back and bight me some how, but it was worth it.

Why tab, you devil you. I didnt know you had that in you, you rascal. Im sure that fellow will think twice about his stature in the community. ;D

10 years ago I would have striped a line down the middle of the car. ;D
-
Better not jaywalk in the next county..... ;D
-
You fought the law and,........you won. Congrats! He tore your tape!
Your a real renegade! I think that's awesome. However, don't speed, have a burned out tail light, etc.. in that county.
Hope it doesn't come back to "bite"you. ;)

Several years ago when I was president of my local club, a man walked into our clubhouse in camo fatiques, a tee shirt and and a holstered loaded pistol. Our range is a cold range, no one except uniformed on duty LE can carry an openly loaded firearm, ( ccw's can carry concealed except on the firing line during matches ) I was cooling my heels in the clubhouse and just mentioned to him, " Sir this is a cold range " He spun around and said " well this is a hot badge " and pointed to his badge on the belt, I asked are you on duty and what jurisdiction do you protect? He said no he was not on duty and not from our city or county, my fur was up then and I asked, who are here with, and the lady LE grabbed him by the shoulder and said let's go, I had a talk with the club member who allowed him in, and explained in no uncertain terms the conditions of our range. I like law enforcement officers, respect them and the job, but sometimes they think they own things. This fella found out otherwise.

Good for you TAB, but I would stay out of that county if I could. ;D

FWIW, I would have the property owner write the High Sheriff a letter with a brief explaination of what happened with his subordinate, and request compensation from the county for an hour (or however long it took to move the car) of work delay. They won't pay of course, but it memorializes the incident so any future "run-in" is clearly retaliation. I HATE jerks with badges. Spent a lifetime trying to offset what harm guys like him do.
Good for you TAB.
Mac.

I'd bet she has already sent letters to every one in the county as well as talked to thier interal affairs department about why he was driving a county car while off duty... We are not that much diffrent... we are both a$$ holes when it comes to being pushed around... unless you want a war, don't fire that 1st shot.

Nothing better than Humble PIE my hat off to you. ;D :D

Just get Groucho Marx glasses and nose, even if he recognizes you he'll (hopefully) be laughing to hard to mess with you before you can make a getaway ;D

Sadly He must of lack something in his upbringing. Some people are just life long assholes. Remember! what goes around comes around. Life is a great teacher. Oh by the way +1 on how you handled it.

If you have a beard, shave it, if not grow one,...
Like the Groucho concept, add a "do" rag or cap, and get it done mui pronto. 8)

Take care.

I would have put a stripe on his car ;D

I thought the story would be... he parked there and got a nice permanent stripe sprayed down eack side of the car. I'm glad you handled it the way you did. I would probably still be getting beaten in a back room somewhere if I were you.
I'm sure there are a few good law enforcement officers out there somewhere but I haven't met one yet. Except my uncle who was the constable in a tiny town in the middle of nowhwere. The only difference between most of the LEOs and the criminals is that they're a lot bolder about breaking the law and starting trouble. Cops always have the best illegal drugs and stolen electronics too from what I hear. No telling how much evidence never gets turned in. All I know is that they would rather swear at me and accuse me of things I didn't do, than take a report when I'm the victim of a crime. Add to that the fact that it took them two days to show up after I nearly died of a broken neck in an assault, and you can see why I have a problem with them.
-
Nice.
I would have had it towed, and then when he ask where it was at, I would play dumb and say "What car?"
-
TAB I buy you the first beer if we ever meet!
