Yes, dismal news for this landfill I live in...
-
Michigan is pretty low rated too.

Ohio here.
35th, but we have been and continue to make progress bit by bit.

Lucky #13. 8)

not surprising at all.

Arizona, number 1 again!

Rub it in Bilt.
Number 30 here in Oklahoma. I was surprised when I moved here from Louisiana (#17) 20 years ago as I thought being "out West" would mean fewer gun control laws. I was wrong.
I see we have a lot left to do here.

That really surprised me, Oklahoma coming in 30th. Several other states caught my eye as well, for being far worse than I thought, firearm wise. Coming from Illinois we moved to Arizona for 2 reasons. WEATHER & GUN LAWS. I really didn't know how the employment would work out. But we knew we couldn't stay in Illinois much longer because the cost of living, (mainly property taxes), would drive us out in time. I didn't want to be forced to move when I retired. And the property taxes on the house we sold back there in 1991, are now over $10,000.00 a year. There is no way I could have retired there, while being forced to pay those kind of taxes every year.
The employment really couldn't have been better. I went through a couple of $h!tty jobs, but so does everyone once and a while. Overall I really can't complain. My last 8-1/2 years were the best. I got in with a really good company. I liked them, and they liked me. But I don't care how "good" your job is, it can't beat retirement!
It's so nice to not have to worry about the unemployment rate, or be concerned about benefits, raises, and everything else that's stressful in way's you don't realize, until you're away from it. I feel better physically as well. It was really getting hard standing on my feet for a 12-1/2 hour shift. I don't miss the heavy lifting either. 2 Hernia surgeries were enough!

Very true about retirement, Bill. I tell people that Tuesday is the day I get buried in pressure and stress. I have to get the trash can to the curb in time for pickup....then it's piled on again when I need to get it back off the curb....it never ends....

the gun laws, taxes and bs I why I left CA. got to the point where I was spending 30-60% of my constructions companys gross on permits, insurance and fees.
my last year there i did 1.3 mil in gross, 300k in permits 200k in insurance( comp and liability) and 140k on other building related fees. don't even get me started on the energy auditing company that was locked in a legal battle with the state... which in the end the only one that got in money was the bankers for the loan to fight it and the lawyer that won the court case.
enough was enough.
