So lifers can change into women, then get transferred into a woman's prison. Yeah, I can see where that wouldn't cause a problem. ::)

they are going broke because of the unions and paying pensions that are so far out of line they are not even funny. I kid you not, I know painters that work for the state of ca, that make 80k year, medical with co pays of $5, and will get 100% after 25 years.... oh yeah the quota is so low there is not a single member of this form that I could not teach them how to do and have then do it in less then 1 hours... and they get a day to do it. hell when I was painting the golden gate I was making 160k. I just could not handle the 4 hour each way drive.

How 'bout unions in general? Sure they have a legacy of worth, but, that was lost in the 1960's when they got overly greedy.

Regular labor unions in industry are slowly dying anyway. Last time I heard any specific numbers private sector union membership was about 29% . The only unions growing are in the public sector and employees are not given any choice into whether or not to join. That is why states keep seeing "right to work" bills, which are NOT what they claim. They are attempts by unions to take over employment in states. You can't be hired unless you join the union.
Never forget, the unions were never truly representative of workers, they were always intended as an organizing arm of socialism.

Labor unions are a classic example of, just because a little is good, it doesn't mean more is better, and too much is just enough. When Hoffa first started to organize the truck drivers in the 20's and 30's and created the Teamsters Union, his intentions were good. And at first he succeeded in making truck driving a non abusive, honorable profession. Same with the first guys in the Industrial Revolution who rose up and organized workers against the deplorable conditions Andrew Carnegie created in his steel mills.
Then, as with most labor unions, when they grew to enormous membership, wealth, and power, in came the mob, along with a list of assorted other no goods, leeches, and greedy politicians, and everything started going to hell. Wages and benefits got so high, along with companies all but powerless to fire bad workers, the laziness increased to the point of a lot of these guys becoming all but worthless. This drove up prices of products until union companies could no longer be competitive. Look at the steel industry in and around Gary, Indiana if you need an example of what happens when unions get so big they destroy jobs, instead of make them better.
You're right in that people are finally seeing how totally worthless they are making people like teachers become.

Along with the bad there are still a couple of good things about unions. For example, the fatality rate is lower in union shops than non-union.

Unions began as projects of the Socialist party and were never any thing but tools for political intimidation. The same results would have been achieved with out violence and divisiveness by showing that improved conditions would have increased productivity and profits.
The criminal gangs were introduced into US unions for the sole purpose of organizing criminal violence that workers had no experience with and their presence is the only thing that prevented the US unions from openly becoming an arm of the CPUSA as in every other nation in the world.

In the 60's they got greedy for money. Before that they had been greedy for political power. Look at the strikes during WWII and the early years of the cold war.

Left unchecked, and up to their own devices, unions will destroy any industry who's workers they "represent". The airlines are one of the best examples. They are constantly going broke, and are going into and out of various chapter bankruptcies over unions and "fare wars". Steel workers, teachers, auto workers, truck drivers, city workers, garment workers. The list is endless.
The only reason much of the large aircraft industry, (Boeing, Lockheed / Martin, Northrop / Grumman), stays afloat, is because their competitors are all located in over paid, over taxed, socialist countries, and have the same out of control pay and benefits for their people. That, along with the fact the taxpayer is footing the bill for much of what they produce.
People don't want it to stop if they're on the receiving end. Even if it's proven to them it cannot be sustained. Chicago is your best example of that. The idiot, communist teachers there won't budge on their pensions. They will train wreck the whole city first.
Look at what Scott Walker was up against in Wisconsin. This cannot be stopped. It has to collapse on it's own. Or else they'll run every job worth a $h!t out of the country. Either way it's full speed over the cliff.
