I have the opportunity to buy a Colt Peacekeeper and would like to know if anyone has any experience with them. From what i have gathered from somewhat questionable sources is that they are either Troopers or Pythons that were made during the mid 80's when the finishers were on strike, hence the rough, almost tactical looking finish. The one I am looking at is just under $400.00 and it looks pretty clean and feels nice and tight (and smooth). To Buy or not to buy, that is the question. ;D

I don't know anything about them but go to http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210060, they have comments on it.

I read that they were specially made for the border patrol . Maybe they wanted a matte blue tactical finish and it's not because the polishers were on strike.

as I recall, Colt wanted a pistol that would compete with Ruger on price, the only way they could do it was to have a rougher finish on the gun, hand polishing a pistol is time consuming and expensive, The internals were top of the line Colt, just the matte finish to lower cost.
