Caught in the latest magazine that memberships are going up.
I didn't realize that they were only asking $500 for a life membership. I used it as an excuse to get the wife an Easy Pay Life membership. Can't exactly call it a Christmas present, but I didn't get any resistance this time.
I'll take it..
(Get em while they're hot!!!)

Currently Life is $1,000, but they are offering a $500 special now, just prior to the increase. I got my Life for $750 back before it went up to a grand, but I did upgrade on a special price after that.

When I signed up for life I think I got some kind of deal but I can't remember that far back. When I signed up as a benefactor I definitely got a deal. I think it was half off. I'm glad I did it while I was still working because I don't have that kind of money anymore and wouldn't do it now.

I did the easy pay Life deal way back.... I think it was a set amount up front and $25 per quarter until the $750 was met......took about four years or so at that rate.
I haven't got around to doing the upgrade to the next level....they send offers to do so about every other month.
I started to send them a letter and tell them to just stop sending correspondence and put the money in an account for me. ;D

Got my life membership back in the mid 70s...I think it was around $350...but I might be mistaken. I do remember a truck load of dirt was $400 back then.

I still haven't got anything back from them on getting my wife lined up. I'm kinda concerned.
One of the very few call centers I've never had an issue with is NRA. I'm nursing another sinus infection. Maybe I'll use the down time to sit on hold for awhile with the friendly folks up in VA..

Try SS some time, 40 freaking minutes.
Wouldn't have been so bad if they had decent elevator music, but all they have is repeating message.

Never had the displeasure of dealing with SS. The VA can be either a great, though time consuming experience, or it can be more than frustrating.. Anything ".gov" has the potential to he at best, a forgettable experience..
