GBSupport1017 This account was closed as a duplicate of an account that failed our validation.
The information that you entered on the original account was run though a verification service and was unable to be verified. You will need to send us information with which we can verify your account manually. The most common forms of ID are a DL and utility bill, but you may send other documents such as a loan statement, paycheck stub, vehicle registration, carry permit, cell phone bill, or other items received with your name and address. You may black out sensitive details.
You can fax it to 770-573-3671 or email it to CSFAX@gunbroker.com.
Upon receipt and review we can activate your account. We will then reset your account to Past Due and you will be able to login to make a payment. Once payment is made we can reactive your account.
I have never had an account with gunbroker.com before, and I have never heard from them until I attempted to open this account. Now they want me to send them information and give them money???

I'm not too surprised. Some of their instructions are confusing and I've had a broken link or two along the way.
I just went through a couple of the steps to set up an account and the only change I saw was $1.00 for using gmail/yahoo/some other free email system. They must have some big bust in their system for you to get that kind of a message.

Mikey, I hate to say this, but you may have been a victim of Identity Theft. Someone else may have set up an account using your name and info, and that's why they show a balance due.

That was what I thought of right after I ranted about there being no way I was going to send them anything on the list of items they wanted from me.

Did they actually specify an amount due, or was it just a form letter ?
-
Tom,
It is the email I quoted above. No amount on it, but they say they will tell me after I prove who I am with information I won't give them.

There's always Buds.

Yeah, if you want something from Buds, just let me know and I will drive over and get it for you! It's maybe a 15 minute drive for me. . . . ;D

I set up my gunbroker account years ago and never had to pay anything up front. This sounds a little weird to me unless they change something I am not aware of.
