I was reminiscing a bit today. :'( I was thinking about Gunman 1911 & Swoop and how they moved on.
Along with some guys that are really awol like Brosometal, TWYacht and others.
Pathfinder's still in here though where the heck is Hazcat...he's been awol most of the year...both guys here from the beginning. I haven't seen of Bidah in a while or Warhawke (maybe he's writing a new book?). Overload has been gone for a year or so along with 2How, CDR and Dakotaranger.
Kid Shelleen & Johnny Bravo...they used to rock before the Kid got sick.
Lots others. Glad to see m25operator is back and kicking and Tom after that heart thing earlier in the year.
Rambing off now....

Oh, one more thing. I see a bunch of guys who are registered...some for 5-6 years who log on occasionally...zero posts or very few posts. Time to step up and participate guys!

Some have disappeared from here due to personal and/or family issues, some have found a new home on facebook, but there are many that I have no idea what happened. Maybe they got bored, maybe they found other interests, who knows.
-
TW has been gone a couple of years now. Hardly seems it. Hell, I can't believe I've been retired over a year already. It seems like just a couple of months. I don't do social media. I wouldn't know how to log on to Facebook.
-
Warhawk is writing full time, has a couple novels on Amazon. He checks in when he gets a new one done.
Haz has been working screwy hours and according to Crusader Rabbit doesn't have much time except for sleep.
Same source says TW is doing fine .

Where's the Quaker?

'Glade's.

Where's the Quaker?
I forgot about him. Another one who has disappeared.

Still looking after pop I guess.

One thing that has hurt "old-style forums" has been the swing on Facebook toward "groups"... for specific like-mindedness, such as reloading, and it offers a more 'instant' Q&A and discussion opportunity than a standard forum like DRTV usually offers.
I too miss a lot of the guys (and the few gals) that were once regulars.
I joined a bunch of different forums in a short period years ago.....this is the only one I've stuck with, because it was the only one that felt "right"....different than the others, it was the only one that had a sense of personal connection and familiarity amongst the active members.
Traffic has slowed, but the feeling is still the same.....which is why I miss those no longer here.

I'm much the same. I think the one thing that has kept me here is the like mindedness of most all of us. We're all on the older side. Many of the other forums I've joined since I joined here, have all been infiltrated by a lot of young, liberal minded people. Many are quick to dismiss others who don't share their viewpoint. Here we all speak the same language. It makes the whole experience much easier. That, and all but non existent moderation. No one has a higher opinion of themselves than a forum moderator.

I wouldn't know what to do with Facebook. Can't be that hard for all the wizards I know who use it though. I have all the tracking I want with the internet useage I have now...I certainly don't want to add a supertracker on my tail.
Going on 9 years here and no problem with losing data. That's worth something to me.
-
I have been checking in occasionally now that I have a better venue to work from, and more dexterity. I do a lot of Facebook , along with multiple airgun, guitar, buy/sell groups. Since I haven't shot a firearm in 5 yrs, I am not making any new stories to tell. The airgun stuff keeps me pretty busy, my goal (which is working), was to build, buy and sell tricked out-tuned airguns, using zero dollars from my monthly disability check, starting off with a collection I had accrued over the years. So I sold some for profit, bought some bargains, bought a lot of parts cheap to build trick stuff, and so far it's been great! It's a lot like what I did with firearms, but I can do it in a apartment, without a license, and through the mail! I can also shoot indoors, 3 of my rifles are very quiet, but shoot @ 800-1,000fps with compressed air.
I am working out and hope to be walking in a few months, once I can get into a wheelchair easily, I can go to the doctors office to get treatment for my hands, it's a game of inches, not yards.
Ken, I called you several times but didn't hear back, Johnny Bravo calls from time to time, but his job is very demanding, I understand, since he does what I used to.
Miss you guys!
-
My phone number has probably changed 3 times with job jumps. I have sent you a direct email with my current number.

The only reason I started the facebook thing was to relay info to family as my f-i-l began his final few months.....then later the next year when my wife was going through cancer treatments, it was a convenient way to relay info to all the various concerned folks as well.....I just stuck around with it because I can stay engaged with some friends and family that live out of state easier than through emails......that is one advantage of fb over phone and email.
I only put the bare minimum info required to open the account, and even some of that is not exactly accurate. ;)
-
I have had work issues over the last year or two. Either REALLY BUSY or looking for a new job. I am some-what settled in a new job now but you never know.
I joined FB quite a while ago because my old Army Unit closed down their board and moved to FB. I like it less and less though, too much junk. Everyone has turned into a commercial, my Sister-In-Law is pimping her natural oils, click-bate is everywhere and those that I want to see never post. Then there is Tom... ;)
-
I too miss the old gang! What I like and have liked all along is the Rangers and the ability to share medical and personal situations that I can't on FB. I keep in touch with some of you on FB but I joined basically so that I would be able to enter contests! Sad but true. Oh yes, haven't won a damn thing! Haven't gotten anything for liking and sharing and commenting either! I have been able to make friends with common interests other than shooting and etc. Can-Am Spyder groups abound. M B, M'ette and Marshal spend time on FB also, more than on this forum.
The big thing I dislike about FB is the trash talk and also, there is a lot of race bating. A lot of the preprinted posters and stuff has language I use but don't like spreading in print for all to see. I don't know if any of you guys get the same thing on FB but I get a ton of "Friend Requests" from young women. I was warned early on to delete them asap after they appear, which I do. Just to be safe.
That pretty much sums things up. I will continue to do both for now.
I will end by saying that "Studies have been made that show people are a lot happier after they drop out of FB!" Not sure if it is true or not.

As I said, I don't do social media. When you're retired you've got less to worry about if you do use it. I've heard countless stories of how employers will check everyone out. Many have lost their jobs over it. Either directly or indirectly. I'll admit the older I get, the more set in my ways I become. It took a lot to get me to try a cordless mouse, let alone Facebook! ;D
-
Companies dang sure do check the FB.
I think it's part voyeurism on the part of a hiring company, but that's just me. We don't do that where I work but many do.
-
Things change, life moves on.
This forum is still the best thing out there (compare with AR15.com, but be careful lest you get banned like MB!) which is why I keep it up all of the time on my main browser instance.
I'm doing all sorts of stuff since I "retired" (lack of work locally here in KY and don't want to travel, what with being a newlywed and all - going into our 4th year together!). I built out a 6.8 REM SPC rifle, and am working on a .300BLK which will become an SBR once I get the tax stamp. Set up an NFA trust for that.
I also passed my HAM Tech exam, and will be sitting for the General later this month. Got a spiffy (and incredibly CHEAP) Baofeng 2-band radio for like $27 new. That's not a typo, check Amazon! Anyhow, still trying to learn how to use the thing, it's got like 500 commands in a package about a third the size of an AR clip mag.
Also had a knee rebuilt last August, still working on getting that back to "normal".
Studied Biblical Greek (aka κοινε έλλας) for 30+ weeks. Interesting experience and actually some fun being able to read Scripture in the original language, understanding it just that much more.
Have taken some wonderful trips with my darling wife, some planned, some last minute work-related. I'm retired, she ain't - yet.
Traded my ranch pickup, F-350 quadcab with the 7.3 Powerstroke, for a tricked out Fusion. Fun car, great on the highway, making the road trips all the more enjoyable.
Got permission from the anti-gun wife to get the NRA-thing out of my system in Louisville this May, will be there both nights!!! :D
So Rastus, great OP, great reminder of the guys - and gals - we've met here and with whom we share a great bond. Stay safe all, be well, recover from the various maladies quickly, and know that each and every one of you is in my prayers and thoughts.

Path,
If you don't have it you need that programming cable for the Baofeng. Direct entry will drive you crazy unless you have long uninterrupted days of nothing to do.....
I'm assuming you have a UV-5R. I have 3 UV-5RE's for less than $100 delivered to home.
You can improve the effectiveness by attaching counterpoise to one of the phillips screws just above the battery pack. Just having the ground of the chassis for the antenna is OK, but the counterpoise may help you a bit more....make it the same electrical length as your antenna.
And for the antenna, Diamond makes a good one makes a big improvement. It costs 1/2 as much as the radio but it's worth it.
-
Is that Classical Greek, or neo classical Radio ? ;D

The UV-5R came with the cable, programmed from one of the online sites to download all of the local repeaters. i had heard of the Menu difficulties apparent in these little devices, so I was prepared to buy one if it didn't come with it.
You lost me on the whole "counterpoise" thing. So I went an looked it up - thanks.
New antenna is next up, then on to a Go-Box for the Yaesu FT-2900 I just got before we hit the road this summer. Should be a good trip, may even head through OK on our way.
And Tom, κοινε is post-Classical Greek. ;)

LOL,

<snip>you need that programming cable for the Baofeng. Direct entry will drive you crazy unless <snip>
This? These are 2 meter (144-148 MHz) or 70 cm (420-450 MHz) FM only walkie talkies. You change power setting, frequencies, whether you are using a repeater or not, etc. either through the keypad or you preprogram them using a computer.
<snip>You can improve the effectiveness by attaching counterpoise <snip>.
And the counterpoise thing is sort of like an antenna is a positive and a negative. Think of the antenna sticking up on a walkie talkie as the positive. The negative (ground) is the radio chassis. The chassis is small and though it may balance the antenna electrically, does little to transmit. By attaching a short wire to the chassis you are able to radiate more signal.
This was the neoclassical radio part.
I do not know why the FCC allows those Baofeng radios in the country though. You can easily transmit below, above and between Ham frequencies.
I started to program in some of the National Weather Service frequencies (162.4 to 162.55 MHz) into my radio to listen to weather and the Ham storm chasers but opted not to. The problem is...you have to be really careful not to push the transmit button because these units will not only receive out of the Ham bands but transmit as well. Heaven help you if you were to be listening in on some of the federal repeaters from 163 to 170 MHz and accidentally keyed up.
So the safe thing is only Hams should buy them and should make dang sure they only have approved Ham frequencies programmed in them. These things are available to anyone from Amazon for around $30 with a charger. People can get themselves in lots of trouble with them by transmitting outside of their approved legal privilege.
-

Is that what happens when Miss America stumbles a lot?

I swear I'm still around! Been fairly active on Facebook. But moving up in my current company, starting a new one . I read more than I post lately.

With the free "Chirp" software you can program the output of any channel to transmit on a frequency that you are licensed for regardless of the receive frequency and I believe you can also program it with a frequency of 000.000 for no transmit making it "safe". Why it is available is that theory hold that any ham radio operator could modify any radio within a certain band to transmit on a frequency outside of their allotment anyway since the license was created for operators to experiment.
You are correct in stating that someone without know how and license can get themselves in to trouble without knowing it if they misuse the radios.
Just another reason to get your ham license. (IMHO)

I didn't know about the 000.000 trick. That makes a lot of sense.
I'll have to see about that and put the NWS freqs in.
-
So does anyone know how Kid Shelleen and Johnny Bravo are doing?
-
Johnny called me out of the blue a month ago ( working long hours and beat), all he told me about Kid was he was not doing well at all ! Please everyone keep him in your prayers. He did say he speaks with TW Yacht, and he's OK.

I still stop by fairly regularly if only to see what Bogan is up to.
It's true that the Forum sort of dimmed when several of the stalwarts found other interests. Haz has been up to his eyeballs trying to keep body and soul in a single package. Deepwater stops in now and then, but with his studying for promotion, getting promoted, and all the work that goes along with being Chief Engineer, he's literally at sea. When he gets back to land, he has a new "old" Jeep he's fixing up and he now seems to enjoy Jeep-abouts with his cute little bride more than hanging out with us. And M'ette seems to have run off with a cowboy or something, but she's rarely around to send any of us to the corner.
And, there's another thing or two... Back when Odamna was first in office, a lot of us complained about what he was doing. That kept the Forum jumping. Then the re-election happened and a lot of us became hopelessly depressed. It's hard to be upbeat when you see your fellow Americans make the same idiot mistake twice.
Now, we have the preliminaries to another election and the Repub front runner is a whack-job who wants to force the military to obey illegal orders, ship 11,000,000 Mexicans back over the border, and build a 50' wall so they don't get back. That means we are giving the election to the Hildabeast if she doesn't get sent to prison before the general. We are forcing an insane choice on a population of stupid people and expect to get a rational conclusion.
Friends, if those are the two choices, we are well and truly screwed and may as well sign up for Bogan's Revolution.
Anyhow, between other social media outlets (none of which I use) and near clinical depression at the current state of affairs, I don't think a lot of us have all that much socializing we want to do.
Just a few thoughts, FWIW.

M'ette is on facebook about every day, Marshal is there frequently.
Not much worth commenting on here any more, beyond, "if you tolerate it you don't deserve any better".
Nobody posts any gun stuff any more except Alf.

I found some mags for my aging Sig on eBay!
There, some gun stuff!
Screw the election... They keep up what they're trying and the RNC will GIVE it to the Beast!!!

HEY!!!! I'm here toooo!!!!!! the war dept and I are in Norfolk until tomorrow morn, and then on to St Petersburg. and then on to Peru. who knows what the hell we'll be doing after that. you know. we do plan on driving out West this summer and then return via the Northern states and down the East coast. why not. she needs to see ALL of the United States. beside, what's the sense in having 6 months of vacation per year if you don't take advantage of it?
I see we have another radio weenie! well, TW has also gotten the bug. I'll try to get him up on HF for you, Rastus and Pathfinder.

6 Months of vacation!!!! That's almost like being retired....almost.

TW on ham radio...could be dangerous the two of you transmitting from the water.
ARRL's dx weekend ongoing right now. Spoke with Aland Islands, Morocco, France, Sweden, Lithuania, Spain, etc. Using dual band dipole made from 450 ladder line in the attic on 100 watts. 15 meter conditions were good today.
-
Sorry to hear the Kid is not doing well. I saw something about the owner of that company or CEO, whichever, going to trial. I hope they put him in jail. Johnny Bravo needs to stop by and update us from time to time if he can.
Glad to hear that Haz is still kicking...miss him on here too. Saw that he's in and out in the last few months.
TW...he's been gone for ages and added a lot to the conversation.
Glad you are back with us Bennie and it's nice to hear what CR has to say also.
Deepwater it is good to see you weighing in. Are you going to mix some training with your traveling?
-
Sorry I seemed to have missed a bunch of good people but please don't count us "newbe's" out yet. Glad to see soo many of you guys into HAM radio as well. Has anyone every tried to set up a net on HF for regular meetings?? Good way to keep in contact. :)

i miss haz, we use to have phone calls til one of our phones would die.

No nets yet. Something I'd like to do...we are few so maybe not a weekly net. I think HAM radio is a good thing for everyone to get acquainted with ....it's open anyone can hear but I think big brother has written it off and is probably more secure communication by being ignored than texts and emails.

Anyone have any suggestions on frequency, time of day/week/month, etc... I believe it would have to be HF so Tech licenses would be limited. With summer coming on propagation my cause issues as well.

21.3030
7.243 at say 05:00 Eastern?
It's got to be a play on a caliber.

Have my General, but funds are tight right now so no 180-6m rig yet, only 2/1.25/70cm.
Plus, the Hamvention in Dayton (2 hours north of here) is the SAME weekend as the NRA convention, to which I am going, so no used gear even considered until the Lousiville Hamfest in September. Or maybe the Lawrenceburg Hamfest in August, we'll see. I can listen on the Tecsun 660 though.

You're only 630 or so miles from me. I'm thinking 40 meter is the best way to go being that close. Maybe something on 80M around 3.939 (9x39mm)?

I rarely see any of those mailboxes but when I can't sleep I watch my digital clock radio. 218, 219, 220, 221, 222, 223, etc.

357 is right around the corner from me and one of our lunch hangouts is 4570.

Sounds good. I just have to get my main antenna reconnected after my XYL ran over the main ground wire with the riding mower. I guess my fault for having it away from the wall of the house 4 whole inches. Managed to hit that but can't park worth a crap. :o

Does anyone know what is ailing Kid Shelleen? The poor guy seems to have been sick a long time.

It was that infected peanut butter crap....as I recall.
-
He had a litany of medical issues all of which are difficult.. I hope and pray he's doing better. It's been a few years since I last spoke to him.

Wasn't it all started with that bad peanut butter? It morphed into multiple issues?

Not a peanut allergy but a contaminated jar of peanut butter, botulism or some such thing set him off on a path of destruction of his guts. I can't find the post from 5-6 years back but I think Rastus is right.
He's had a hell of a time.

Unbelievable. One would think a law suit is warranted in this case. Who would guess you could damn near die from poorly prepared peanut butter?
-
Yep....it all started from contaminated peanut butter.....
I think there were two separate points of origin by two different companies around the same time frame (give or take a year), but I can't find that info other than the two links below have different company names, ConAgra and Peanut Corporation of America. The ConAgra plant where the majority of the contaminated stuff came from is only 20 miles from me, but I think there were several that had several large batches of contaminated peanut butter go out to the public (if I recall). Salmonella was the main culprit and deaths were involved as well as major intestinal and digestive issues.
-----------------
In 2007, a salmonella outbreak blamed for sickening at least 625 people in 47 states was traced to the Sylvester, Ga., plant where ConAgra made Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter. As a result, the company recalled all of its peanut butter that had been manufactured since 2004.
---------------------------------
And last fall, the former owner of Peanut Corporation of America, Stewart Parnell, was convicted of felony charges in a 2008 salmonella outbreak also linked to peanuts processed in Georgia. Parnell awaits sentencing and could face prison. Unlike the ConAgra case, prosecutors had evidence Parnell knew he was shipping contaminated peanut butter and tried to cover it up using fake lab tests.

Kid's problems progressed to the point to where had surgeries involving removal of portions of his digestive tact, and also (I think) had issues with bacterial infections from the surgery....been in a lot of physical pain and anguish since.

As I recall the POS who ran the thing got off pretty much scott free. I wonder if he's having to shoulder the financial burden without any assistance from the culprit?

I hope they serve him a LOT of peanut butter sandwiches in prison. And with EVERY bite he will need to worry that it is bad like the stuff he sold.

What they should be doing is spending several hours a day tending to The Kid's care...let them live each day with what their greed has done to him....but from what I have seen of the Kid here, he would be acting to easy their suffering.
I can only admire what I have seen of him here.

Shared an email with DDMAC. He's doing well and working honey do's all the time.
-
Glad to hear it.

I do check here time to time; not sure how I missed this thread though.
Overall not too much time on the internet for the last 2 years or so. Wife of 20 years got a new boyfriend (husband a year later), moved her and the boys to the deep south (long long way from Montana). I am trying to fix, maintain, and sell our fantastic off grid property. It has been a long, long, stressful and expensive 2 years. I can forget retirement now too..
I can say that dating sucks at 50. More like going in to be voluntarily waterboarded!! I did meet a nice gal though, who is as sick about doing 3Gun as I am.
Once I get moved I will need to setup my HF again. Extra Class since the late 80's. I like CW, and run a lot of digital stuff on 40 or 15. Question is where am I going to move to, and will I be able to setup my tower!!
-
Dang man I hate to hear about the wife crap. Worse thing is taking your children so far a way.
I am certain you'll get on an even keel though.
CW guy eh? I'm more phone. I haven't pushed to the Extra yet. I tried to get some of the guys here amped up for Museum Ships Weekend. Next comes Route 66.
Good to see you back, if only for a post or two.
-
Try to remember us when you get back on the air. Maybe I'll finally have my antenna up on top of the tower.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Bidah....happens to so many. Nothing much to say that can help...seems like you're plugging away. ONe item I can help with is where to move to: NOT NJ.

.....Once I get moved I will need to setup my HF again. Extra Class since the late 80's. I like CW, and run a lot of digital stuff on 40 or 15. Question is where am I going to move to, and will I be able to setup my tower!!
Bidah,
Seriously, if you don't like the cold, check out Arizona. Employment here is good, and the cost of living, along with the home prices is affordable. You don't have to drive 100 miles to find something a little more rural if that is to your liking. And you won't find a more firearms friendly state, that's for certain. And if you stay away from homes in HOA communities, you can pretty much set up anything you want.

Or, Massapoopshits...

Or New York

Come to NH if you don't mind the worst of both worlds weather wise. Humid in the summer, and cold and snow in the winter.
Oh yeah, Black flies in the Spring.

There are jobs to be had in the oilfield between Pecos, TX and Carlsbad, NM. Competent anything is hard to find down there. We slumped in that area but never fell off the cliff. We're about to wrap up our exploration gig down there and sell off what we've found...it's like shooting fish in a barrel down there.
Someone who wants to start a business is going to make a ton of money down there over the next several decades...there is that much drilling and production to be had in the area. Problem is...you have to import workers because the indigenous population is limited and, for a large part, shiftless...but then there is the opportunity.

The home value is amazing down there. I just pulled this off Zillow. 3757 Sq. Ft., all brick construction for $189,900. And that's asking price! And best of all, no property taxes.

Luckily my job goes with me as I work from home. Actually, I want to stay in Montana if at all possible. Arizona is a close second as I spent a couple of years in Flagstaff, and a couple in Glendale. My parents spend about half the year in Casa Grande now. Other options were Missouri, Oklahoma, and Florida. I have lived in New England, and will not go back.
Really, the hardest part outside of the financial blood letting has been the boys. Poisoned them is a good word for it. I did see them for a few days a year ago; now they pretty much wish I was no longer living and won't talk to me at all. So, it is wait and hope one day they come back around. Yes, those same laughing funny boys in my avatar. Oldest one was a sponsored shooter, the other about to be so. Neither of them shoot at all now and pretty much live inside playing games (which is about all I know at this point).

That truly sucks.
My brother went through the same thing eight or so years ago in an ugly divorce. His ex poisoned both his son and adopted daughter (he had adopted her when they got married) toward the whole family.
I can tell you from experience, don't lose hope that the truth will win out. I told my brother and family to have patience, and that the kids were intelligent enough that eventually they would have questions (based on what they remembered about us in their own minds) that their mother couldn't "make up" false answers to.
This past Easter, the daughter (now 18) reached out to the family and has re-established a relationship with my brother and the rest of us.
Always remember there is hope, Bidah.
I don't know if you are a praying man, but I will remember you and them in my prayers.

Dropped it another 20k today too! A place like that here would be well over 300, if not 400. One thing about Montana, it is not cheap to live here.
So, know anyone that wants an off-grid place, 40 acres, in the mountains of Montana?? :D Full blown, full time house!!

Where about in Montana? My parents and brother are over north of Great Falls, my son is in Havre and I have family in and around Kalispell. I tried to get the wife to move up there when I got laid off back in September but she didn't even blink before closing that door. I do love where I live in the Willamette Valley here in Oregon but I'm afraid the anti-gun barbarians are at the gate. I've been actively involved with our state Gun rights group and for the last 20 years we've beaten them back but the apathy among the shooting community here is appalling.
With the possibility of being self employed moving to TX or NM oil fields would be a better financial choice....

Hey folks it was great reading this thread. Brought back some good memories. Have hardly posted anything in years. Had some life changes and somewhat drifted away. Would check the forum sometimes, but not logged in. You are a great group of people.
A little over four years ago I unexpectedly and rather suddenly had an unplanned early retirement. The whole thing happened in about 10 days. Loved the freedom of retirement, but the income stunk, but I was able to get by. Financially I hadn't planned on retiring at that time. Figured I would retire around 2016-2018 originally. Was retired for about two years before I found work again and have been back at it for a little over two years. Kind of set me back financially to retire in the 2016-2018 time frame, but I'm happy to have a regular income again.
Both the kids got married and moved on, one to the other side of the state to get her masters and then for a work offer. The other to AZ and made me a first time grandpa with the birth of a grandson about a month ago. Already picked up a youth sized .22 bolt action for the little wolfepup.
Had a Cougar Lady Friend for awhile that I would marry if she would have me. Didn't work out for a variety of reasons.
Saw the posts about Facebook, and I'm sure that has hurt this forum and many others. I'm not on FB, as I am forbidden to do so. Not sure that I would want to anyway, but just might join under an assumed identity. About two years ago I get an email from my great plains residing sister that they were back home, after attending my aunts funeral a few hours drive away. I called here and asked about my deceased aunt as that was the first I heard about it. My sister replied, "Oh that's right, you're not on FB". Seems like the family communicated everything about my aunt's passing on FB? Don't have a smart phone either. Got a old style flip phone Neanderthal 2.0 version. I can get text, but don't expect a return text. I guess I can internet connect on a limited basis with it, but I don't.
Also saw all that stuff about ham radio, but that was mostly Classic Greek to me.
Bidah, sorry about the crappy situation that transpired with the x and your children. That's got to be a tough experience for a loving father to go through. Hopefully as others have said your sons will remember truth and reestablish a positive relationship in the future. I've seen others go through similar heartbreaking crap like that and the devastation it can cause. Try to keep a positive and patient outlook.
I'll keep you in my prayers. If my retirement was on it's original track I'd talk to you more about your off grid property.
Pathfinder, glad to hear the the new wife and the move sounds like it's been good.
Timothy sorry your still bound to Massapoopshits, thought you may have fled by now.
Jay, what are you up to, still making music?
Bogan, still Bogan I see and that is a good thing.
BillT, congratulations on retirement, careful filling those propane bottles, Homeland Security might think you are up to no good.
Majer, I know you're well with all the new gun laws they passed to keep you safe awhile back.
Heard the ammo part wasn't going as the politicians had planned.
Peg, Ratus, Alf, Magoo, and others, I hope you are all well and that life is good.
Good to see Benny posting occasionally, lost your number from when you called me about 6 months or so again.
Didn't mean to leave you out Crusader Rabbit, or anyone else. Say hello to the HazCat for me.
Saw Brian at the NRA conference in Indy a couple years ago, about the time I faded from here.
Deepwater, keep the boat trimmed and upright, or at least wear your life jacket.
M'Ette, who? She probably doesn't remember me, I haven't talked to her in a long time.
No, I didn't forget RED364, her blue guns and the eye bleach pictures. Does she still hang out here?
I apologize to those I didn't mention, trying to post this with my CRS memory.
It was nice to visit with you folks again. I'm turning into a cranky old curmudgeon that is hoping to make it to my real retirement. Find a nice secluded rural place where I can pee off the front porch, shoot off the back porch, and skinny dip with a sweetheart off the dock.
There is a lot in America and this world I don't understand anymore.
-
It's good to hear from you after all this time Wolfe. I hope you can hang out here more often.
-
Hey Wolfie,Glad to hear from you,Stop in once in a while.
-
Thanks Frank and Majer. I'll try to make it a point to stop in on a regular basis.
Sorry I left you out earlier Frank.
Forgot Solus too, and probably others.
-
Hey Wolfe, good to hear from you! Don't be a stranger.
-
Great to hear from you again! I hate you had to walk a path not to your liking and plans.
I don't do faceybookey either. My wife tried to get me on but I'm not gonna do it... It's not too shocking that your family forgot to inform you...had similar happen here before faceybookey.
Tell us about the guns and shooting...don't leave out any hunting you've been up to!
-
Hey Wolfe!
Glad to see you're hanging in there and sorry about the work loss. At least you don't have to drive to GR every day! I don't think I could do 2-1/2 hours commute to get to work.. Hope you found something closer to St. Jo..
Stay well...say hello to the Big Lake for me...I was in GR for about three days last October but never drove the 35 miles to stick my head in the surf. I do miss the Mitten but Massapoopshits has a hold on me..
Congrats on the grand young'un.. I became a Poppop in February myself!
-
Wolfe!! Nice long catch up post.. a Grandpa now eh? Yee haw!!
I do use FB, since a lot of my match stuff is on there.
-
Wolfe, great to hear from you! Glad most things have worked out. Not sure about that Cougar thing though. LOL
God Bless,
Richard
-
Good to hear from you, Wolfe....... congrats on the grandson!!!

Thank you everyone for the friendly welcome back. Haven't been much shooting at all. Did shoot a couple of Appleseeds though. Didn't get my patch though, need to try again. I don't do well on hot days. Appleseed is a great organization.
Someone asked about guns. Got a couple of used items in layaway jail right now. Really didn't need either one, but they called my name at very reasonable prices. Ruger Bisley .44 special and a very good Winchester 94 in .30WCF about 1941 vintage. The shop deals mostly in modern black guns, so non black guns get priced to move quickly. Plus, you don't make money when it sits on the shelf.
-
Blackwolfe, if I haven't said so before, it's good to catch up.
-
Mr Wolfe, if you ever get on fb you MUST tell me your pseudonym!!!
-
Wiil do Red, if is the operative word. ;D
