Always hope for the best, but plan for the worst.
With that in mind, what are the contingency plans IF Hilary wins the election. This will mean either her or Obama gets to pick Scalia's replacement and throw in possibly a few others. She'll also push for the Australia model of confiscation, higher taxes on all things firearms, and changing laws to attack the manufacturers.
Who is the lead politician spearheading against this or will this be a coalition of small groups fighting (politically) in coordination with each other? We cannot afford to just react blindly.

It's why the Senate and House elections are so important, but way underplayed this year. POTUS can't do a whole lot without Congress. One hope that if a Democrat wins the WH, Republicans can control Congress.
And dont' forget the importance of local elections, as well.

Definitely! We need these guys to plan and execute a gun rights offensive to protect our rights. (I never understood why no gun rights laws were added to the spending bill. (Those will always pass.)

We here in the Peoples Republic are under constant assault by the leftist legislature but with the local GOAL attorney's who constantly put a boot up the ass of the same body of leftists, we usually manage to maintain the upper hand on more gun controls. Gun sales are up, memberships are at their highest levels, licensing is way, way up...
I know it's still MA but it's not OZ either... These leftists know we vote, vote in every local, regional and state/federal elections.
Yea, the POTUS is important but as Alf says and I've said dozens of times, the House and Senate are most important and why they're Article 1 of the Constitution and NOT Article 2... The Framers did it for a reason since those two bodies ARE THE PEOPLE...

How easy would it be to create a civil war? One author's take is 5 people is all that's needed. I'd go for 5 people per major metropolitan area, myself, to do a thorough job.

No, really. What senator/representative are all the gun enthusiasts rallying behind? I guarantee that I'm voting R all the way, but I know it's not enough. (If it was the Republicans would vote for a new member of the SCOTUS. Too many RINOs.)

I have a suggestion that doesn't involve a Civil War. We simply amend the Constitution so that SCOTUS and POTUS have no wiggle room. We have 42 states that have adopted shall issue (or better) and therefore could be counted upon to ratify a clearly worded amendment. We only need 34 states. We need congress to get the process started, but we do not need the president - so it's quite "doable".

Let's take a page from the enemy's handbook:
1. Public protests;
2. Civil disobedience;
3. Forceful but not so much we land in prison or with charges that legally and constitutionally strip us of rights (leave the arms at home for a later fight);
4. Speak in a language understood outside the gun range, gun shop, or gun forum;
5. Using above, be in the face and unrelenting (remember that abortionists and gay rights advisers have pointed out we are too quiet and compromising - Especially the NRA).
The left is advancing while we are losing the battles. We need to reframe the war, and use what works. Rednecks strutting with open carry fuels their fight and hurts us. Put on your business suit, put on your yuppie clothes, speak in complete sentences, and be unrelenting in factual messages (research and create the message - Don't use facebook memes as your research source!
Keep in mind that even with the GOP, RINOS and all, are in control, the left keeps advancing. We need to learn from our loses if we want to turn the tide.
Drift, and possibly a point for another discussion:
When do we quit being defensive and move to repealing what we have lost? When do we go back to the 1930's and undo the laws that stripped us of so much?

Neither. We make our own decisions and work together across the board to preserve and restore our rights.
I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and suggestions. We have a good base to start from.
1) We vote. Get as many gun rights people in office.
2) Voice our thought like M58 said. Be strong and professional. Use reported events to explain and defend the right to bear arms. (NRA has them as well as other sites.) Don't use stats. They'll argue against them like we do. (Lies, damn lies, and statistics.)
3) Remember what TomBogan said. The opposition will try to shame and ridicule you. Turn it around to shame them. Point out how firearms protect everyone including people of color, interracial couples, transsexuals, homosexuals, people of different religions. Show that gun ownership is not just for white Christians, but for all Americans. (We are fighting for this right for everyone after all.) If someone say's that we are afraid of a black person with a gun, you not only say hell no, but post pictures of those gun owners. Tell stories of how they defended themselves with firearms or have made a good living in shooting sports. (Hell, point out the fact that the Lone Ranger is based on a black sheriff.) Make the anti crowd so angry that they rant and rave and look like five year old children to the independents. The ones that haven't made a choice. (Dancing with the stars group that doesn't care because the think it doesn't affect them.
4) Do what VinceWarde says and have the politicians push for national reciprocity for concealed carry. And have it done to the ALASKAN model or Utah model! The regulations on this need to be as simple as possible. We can not allow room for them to say ok and push for a New York, D.C., or California version of Concealed carry permit regulations. The least amount as possible. There are 42 states and we need 34. That means we can only afford to lose 6 before the vote starts for it to have any real chance.
5) Push for everything else in the Federal Spending bill. We know it's going to get passed, so lets use it to our advantage and put in laws against overbearing taxation, forcing of insurance on gun owners, litigation against firearm manufacturers, ect.. Use the Spending bill to expand gun rights.

I have "punishing" then since 1991 when I joined the Libertarian Party. It's those who continued to reward the GOP with their votes year after year.

The founders were pretty clear that punishing politicians, by putting them in fear for their ives was the primary purpose of the 2nd amendment.
Look at how those same founders protested the Stamp act and regulations on powder and shot, horse whippings, tar and feathers, burning the collectors house down, stealing the govt arms at Ft William and Mary, then shooting the authorities attempting to recover them are not acts that modern sissy Conservatives have the courage for.
They scream about "gun rights" but don't have the balls to apply them as intended.

Some of the guys around work who were died in the wool Republicans are finally getting it. And it's about time.
However, I still hear people say they don't want Hillary in at any cost. When the end game is the same and it is that the path there is steep or shallow...is there really any difference.
I've been disappointed by Cruz but, for right now, will vote for either Cruz or Trump. If the idiots give me a Paul Ryan or other RINO choice to keep scary Hillary out I may just vote for Hillary if I don't stay home.

Personal peace and prosperity...driven by the irrational hope that "I" won't be touched by the bad things happening around me. The inability to think critically and then when "Rome is burning" complete denial of the facts.
Rome is burning and some see the smoke and fire which is where Trump's votes are coming from, I believe. The RINOs must believe that their bait and switch will be rejected or they will bait and switch.
If polled Trump (and Cruz but I don't know if I can support him anymore needs evaluation) voters must say NO to any other candidate and that they will stay home and let the baby eating monster have it to possibly keep the RINO's at bay.
At this point, I think many of the RINO's prefer Hillary over Trump. Carl Rove reaching out to Trump is a siren's song from a serpent.

I have to disagree with you there. You don't have to abandon your principles to use the tactics of the left. It is easy to see where you are coming from, being that leftists are such hypocrites, but communicating truth, while using the same platform does not lower you to their level.
For example, if you look at most of the Patriot propaganda from the Revolution, it was a stretch to say the least, but it got people off the fence, and on the right side.
A good example of this is the Boston Massacre. The British solders didn't just walk into a crowd and start firing. They were under attack and it got out of control. Looking at history from a purely objective point, the colonists were at fault, but does that really take away from what the end result was to become?

Basically agreeing with you for the most, except wondering what the colonies were at fault for. The American Revolution was decades long in the making. The King and the British government did not live up to the laws, contracts and covenants that had been established and the colonies bent over backwards petitioning that everyone live by the rules agreed upon before things reached a flash point.
A good lesson for governments everywhere.

My elected officials hear from me on items I see as important, they respond with more than a canned letter, at least the conservative side does, they expect to hear from me from time to time, and a couple have even called me for my take or answers to questions. How many fighting the fight can say that? By the way, I was thanked and held for more information by a Democrat Chair of a tax committee one evening. The reason was that I treated her and the committee with respect, I stated facts without name calling or drawing threatening lines in the sand, and I framed my point in how it harmed everyone of all races, ages, genders and other affiliations.

You do good work m58. Your goal is to convince them to at least consider your facts, not to ridicule and berate them for not agreeing with you. You will gain no ground if you start with them on the defensive.

The British didn't just wake up one morning and say "Gee, after 140 years I think I'll piss off our biggest colony."
The root cause was that "America" was governed through the Colonial Office (being a colony) therefore it was not represented in Parliment.
That whole "taxation with out representation thing, sound familiar ?
Parliment was trying to pay their debts from the 7 years war (aka French and Indian war)
The alternative would have been to simply allow colonies to be represented the way we do Porto Ric but that would have lead to a parliment full of Hindu's, Muslims, Kenyan's and other primitive races.

Well, I'm going to say the root cause was breaking agreement they made which made it possible for them to be taxed without representation but in abrogation of charters, contracts, laws, etc. That was where I was at. If they had lived by the agreements in place there would not have been the much increased taxation...but I'd have to check and see if a portion of the increased taxes were addressed by agreements...and I don't have time for that.
And besides, what do we have in Congress right now? Mostly lawyers. So I wonder why you have to jump out in front and slight the primitives? Gee must you dis them when we all know that lawyers run amuck screwing up and screwing things from left to right and top to bottom? Have you not a heart for lesser cultures? They could bring in valuable concepts and ideas like.....

Aw, that can't be true there is all kind of social enhancement we've received. Then there are fire ants...got those now. You don't have them up yonder because it's too cold. But about the top of Louisiana they stop going north...that and say mid-Alabama lower part of Georgia. They build these mounds up quite impressive...you should poke one sometimes when you are down that-a-way. And heck we got 1/2 of Hussein from there...that's worth something.
