Fearless leader just made a push for smart gun technology. (His use of the word, "Smart" is ironic, now isn't it?) His statement was full of the usual crap, but I did notice that he said they want to get local and state leaders together to talk about their efforts, what works and doesn't work. TO me, he is saying that they are going to get these folks in a room and threaten them to tow the line on legislation or the federal funds dry up. There's no way that there will be a conversation in such a meeting.
I saw a Farcebook petition by Everytown where Barry is so cool and the NRA are such idiots, blah-blah, so I broke with tradition and commented. I was surprised, because I couldn't get anyone screaming at me in capitals. I made the point that he's trying to push it on LE and they'll never have it. I had replies, a few likes, but mostly non-sensical stuff like, "Give everybody a gun...why not"? or "What's a few hundred more people this month"?
I followed up, again explaining my position and asking for any idea from anyone how this would help, given that most deaths are from suicide or gang activity. Got more stupid comments back, including a guy who said, "Most gun deaths are NOT gang related- Ppst a link that proves that". I was going to ignore him but he didn't yell with capitals, so I just posted a link to the CDC report that concludes that about 80% of gun deaths are gang related. OK...any other rocket surgeons out there?
When confronted with reason and facts, they either change the subject or go away. That thread now has crickets chirping, and I didn't insult a soul.
Back to Barry...he is an evil SOB and everything he does....everything....is an attempt to ruin our country.

Obama loves smart guns for the same reason he loves solar companies, and his health care, they don't work.

When the anti's attack the NRA on this they are missing a major point. Read and listen to the NRA! WE SUPPORT THIS TECHNOLOGY! We don't support the legislation that makes it the only technology available once it hits the market. Leave it as a personal consumer choice, and you will have not fight. Force it on us, and you will have major issues.

Note the word "Safety." I have read in several places in the last month, one may have even been here, that this is a new move by the anti's. They are pushing to replace violence and control with safety. Personally, I believe this is the equal of when the abortionists replaced baby and child with fetus. The desensitized us to the killing of a human by eliminating human terms. Using the word safety allows them to paint us as evil and demonic by refusing to enact and push for common sense "safety."

Personally, I think the POTUS Secret Service detail should be the first ones to beta test the new technology.

With the smart guns how would one handle guns issued, in time of crisis, from an armory? Would each "magic" activation fob be tie wrapped to the trigger guard?

Funny you should say that...my last post on the FB thing was, "If it's so great let's put in on Secret Service guns. You won't see THAT happening any time soon."

Gun cntrol has no real support outside a very few liberals.
It is a creation of Soros, Bloomberg, and a few elitists.
If it happens in the US yu never deserved any rights.
After all, there's a 100,000,000 of us, and we have guns. No other opinion matters.

You know, I see an Unintended Consequence of the passing of any Smart Gun law even if the technology was flawless....and Liberals would cringe at this effect.
Since many folks will share a "utility" firearm, say .22 plinkers or 20GA rabbit guns and perhaps anything not use as an individual's daily carry gun, there would be an increased need for these firearms...and some part of that need would become increased demand.
This would mean increased sales/income for gun manufactures and an increase in the number of firearms possessed by citizens.
I can see a industry spokesperson making a statement something like this:
"While the Firearms Industry opposes any Smart Gun legislation because the unreliability of the technology would create unreliable firearms and endanger those who's lives depend upon their firearm, the industry would financially benefit by the passage of such a law because it would require additional purchases of shared firearms and any accessories required for their use, maintenance and storage."
