For those who want to post YouTube Videos. It's so simple that it's difficult.
Every YouTube video has a code. It's how each video is identified.
Observe the following You Tube URL. Notice the part in RED. That's the code, the YouTube address.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb0gojoYvhY
JUST USE THE CODE, not the whole URL.
So it would look like the following, but WITHOUT the SPACE between "you" and "tube", which is there for demonstration purposes only.
[you tube]cb0gojoYvhY[/youtube]
-
When I do it that way I get "invalid youtube link".
If I post the whole URL, then erase the "S" in "https" it works fine
By the way, did you see this one ?
-
Like Tom, I've found all you have to do is eliminate the "s" in "https", and it works fine.

I have found, like my example with the Brass PickerUpper, yesterday, removing the S does not always work.
you can "quote" my original post and see that there is no S. I had removed it and still got an invalid link message.
-
It may depend on where you copy the address from.
It has always worked for me if I copy the address from the bar at the top of the page instead of the one farther down on the youtube page.
YMMV

Please don't take this thread or this post as being preachy, I'm just trying to help people post You Tube links easily.
Here's the problem with Solos's post from "Drying some .223.." thread.
The link was indeed invalid. From the quote here's what was posted. I put the X between "you" and "tube" so everyone can see the details.
[youXtube]http://youtube/D8AcaRPBCC4?t=9[/youtube]
Notice anything wrong?
Let me highlight some things.
[youXtube]http://youtube/D8AcaRPBCC4?t=9[/youtube]
Notice the Domain Name portion of the URL //youtube/ That is actually an invalid domain name. It is missing the Top Level (TLD), like .com, .net, .org, .tv, etc.
YouTube links come in many variations depending on whether it's a straight reference or for embedding in a web page or with special formatting. However, if you take the YouTube code/address, D8AcaRPBCC4, just that code, not any special symbols and put it between the YouTube tags it will work. Forget all the other HTTP, HTTPs, or other nonsense.
Again with the X so you can see it.
[youXtube]D8AcaRPBCC4[/youtube]
And without the X so it will work.

Thanks, Alf. I haven't been able to post a link for awhile.
I think what is happening is that I try to capture the URL from the page showing the link...in the Brass Wiz case, it was from the place selling it.
I suspect they foul the link address so others can't steal their video easily. In my case I was using it as and "ad" to showcase their product.
Ahh...here is what I get when I rclick and copy the URL from the above video
....https://youtu.be/D8AcaRPBCC4.....
I notice a "." in the URL along with nasty formatting.
Now to try using the Code in the YouTube brackets
IT WORKS!!!! Thanks again, Alf

I've been doing what Tom did, erasing the s out of https. On another forum I'm on you just post the link and it embeds the video without having to insert it between youtube symbols or anything else.

Does just the link show that needs to be clicked to take you to the video?
Or does it embed the video right in your post?
-
I use the youtube button above, past the entire URL and delete the s, if there is one. However, I have found that some browsers do not work well with different websites, so ...
... I believe that every bit of advise given is correct for some people, but we each need to find the one or ones that work for us and stick with it
Or, you can just claim problems, and let someone else clean up your mess ;)
-
I just copy the link on the Google search area when the site comes up... Never a problem.

It embeds the video rather than just showing a link. I don't know why it works that way on some forums but it's a lot more convenient.

Let's try this....
Here you go...From Donald Trump to Hillary Clinton:
Heart breaker soul shaker
I've been told about you
Steamroller midnight shoulder
What they been saying must be true
Red hot mama
Velvet charmer
Time's come to pay your dues
[Chorus]
Now you're messin' with a
Son of a bitch
Now your messin' with a
Son of a bitch
Now your messin' with a
Son of a bitch
Now your messin' with a
Son of a bitch
Talkin' jivey poison ivy
You ain't gonna cling to me
Man taker bone faker
I ain't so blind I can't see
Red hot mama
Down light charmer
Time's come to pay your dues
-
Try it again......
-
I like this version as well...... 8)
-
So nice to see everybody get the hang of YouTube posting, with and without the http.

It not the links on Google that give me problems...but links to YouTube videos found else where....like on a Facebook page or other web site.

Too bad it's not actually about Hillary. That would be even better.
