Wah, wah, wah :'(
I left Des Moines at 11:00am, and it was 15f; after four and a half hour drive on ice, I arrived in Sioux City, and it was 7f; another three hours later, most of which in the shop trying to get the reefer started, it was 1f, and I headed northeast; two and a half hours later I pulled in at home, and the thermometer reads (read) -16f. Supposed to hit -27f tonight with a high of -2f Sunday.
-
Dang....keep that up there with you. I don't want it down here.
-
Sunday the 18th 4:30 AM as I type this. My outside weather station says 34 degrees. That's COLD for here. It will most likely hit freezing by the time the Sun comes up. I'll turn on the falls and the filter pump on the pool just to be safe. Day's like this are why I don't plant fruit trees.
-
Puppy dog woke me up at 6:15 this morning. Outdoor thermometer reads -26.9f! I'm not going outside to double check! I'll just trust that it is DAMN COLD! I have enough corn in the house to keep the burner going all day, and I can see the Okey Dokey light on the reefer from the living room window. Time for more coffee.
-
Not a fit time for man or beast. Minus 30....beejeebers. I'm at 1 degree here now and the sensor is a few inches from the brick wall so it may be zero. The official reading a couple miles down the lake says 3 degrees but the wind is blowing across 4 miles of lake to that sensor so the air is warmed up some around it.

This weather does cut down on the riff raff. Compare Minnesota to California, New York, and even Chicago with its lake effect warmth.
One thing to remember tho: Brian Enos sells a really good lube called Slide Glide. It comes in three different weights: Medium and heavy may be good for Arizona, Texas and Florida, but Light is the must for Minnesota.
-
Good point on the lube. I wonder how dry graphite works? Can you even get it these days?

19 here today and it's supposed to hit the mid-30s this week. Not too bad for December. We've had 2 significant snowfalls totaling about a foot.

If that was the hottest it got all year I would be happy there.

I'll load up the Chicago bus and send them right down ;D

Little late to the game.. Saturday morning it was -27 here, and not too far from here it was -48. Quite a few places in MT hit in the -40's that morning. A little below normal, but not too far off. Bigger issue is the wind has come up, which makes the wind chill down into the we won't talk about low numbers. I have plowed out my drive (1/10th mile) several times a day just due to the drifting snow. We got two feet of the stuff just a few days before.. :D
As a side not, my new neighbors from Napa Valley California, who moved here in August, are having a bit of an issue right now... never did see them put up any wood for their off-grid house.. hmm
-
Napa is a liberal enviro nazi shit hole. Think of it as a drunker and cheaper north bay.
-
Don't pee outside. You'll have to break it off cause you won't be able to shake it off.
-
It's going to get above freezing for 6 days even getting up to 44 on Monday. It might rain but it won't be freezing rain. I don't mind as long as there's nothing to shovel. Then it's supposed to be 30-32 for awhile. I wouldn't want to live anywhere that gets below 0 very often. Single digit chill factors are bad enough.
-
It is cold enough I caught liberal politicians with their own hands in their pockets.
