Not a forum member, but the Son-In-Law of a loyal friend of ours
Mike Szalaj, was only 36, and a sudden health condition took him far to early, far to fast, and at an already emotional time of year that will affect his loved ones forever.
Rest in peace Mike, and prayers for your entire family.

That is sad news. Way too young, way too sudden.
God Bless and our condolences in this difficult time.
-
Yes sad indeed. I have a good friend who's wife died suddenly on Tuesday before Christmas.
-
Never a good time but around the holidays especially! Sorry for your loss.
Richard

Condolences and prayers for all.

Received this in an email this afternoon:
I work with Mike Szalaj. I saw that someone had posted in the forum that he had passed away. He did pass away unexpectedly last week. We have set up a memorial fund for his family. ( https://www.gofundme.com/in-memory-of-mike-szalaj ) I was wondering if you could post this on your forum.
Thanks,
Joe Soell

Thank you Marshal!!! Joe Soell worked with my son in law Mike in NJ Fish & Wildlife. The department has been amazingly helpful and caring for all of us. At his funeral EVERY Conservation Officer in the state marched past and saluted him.

Done! Wish I could do more my friend!

Jay,
Too late to change now if not done, but a good reminder for us to remind friends of:
Was Mike an NRA member, and did he activate his LEO Life Insurance?

Great point!
Our availability to life insurance, AD&D, etc is far better than most club insurance vs the NRA is worth the stipend they charge..
Still mourning your loss, Jay..
-
Mike, great point. I don't know if he was NRA...never saw any stickers around but I'll check.
Tim, thanks.

Check if he had triple A, professional associations, credit/debit card companies, etc. Even the banks and credit unions....especially credit unions...offer some level of member insurance benefit.
They usually restrict claims to within 30 days. It really just sucks this happened.

Jay,
Keep that therapudic guitar handy and play it hard! Your little girl is going to need you a lot to get through this, and your stress level will need a release as you guide and help her best you can.
-
Rastus, all good ideas. Maggie is staying with her for about a week I suspect, to help her with paperwork and the loneliness.
Mike, it's funny...I haven't touched a guitar in about a month. Just no reason to. But I will.
It's so different when the deceased is older and you sort of expect it. This is nuts.
