Title: Superbowl Fitty 1
Post by: Timothy on January 24, 2017, 05:48:44 PM
I live in Massapoopshits so obviously I'm rooting for the Falcons..or shoveling snow, while drinking option 4 or 5...

Vote early and vote often!   ;)

I've never seen a Superbowl, or any football game for that matter, and I see no reason to start now. I may get some Bourbon or rum and some Coke or other mixer to go with it. I've been craving rum and Coke for weeks. The way the weather has been lately shoveling snow may not be an option.

Vernor's and whiskey!!!

Yeah buddy. Both aged in oak barrels. It's a great combination. I like Jim Beam and Dr. Pepper too. I don't know whether to call it Dr. Beam or Jimmy Pepper.  :)

Vernor's and whiskey!!!

Scotch and ginger is popular in formerly British colonies.  Usually, a dry ginger ale is used, but I can see Vernor's being a pretty good substitute.

Or, you could just not eff up a perfectly good Scotch and drink it without adulteration.

I don't have a dog in this fight. (The Arizona Cardinals played like crap this year). But I'm rooting for the Falcons, just because they haven't won a Super Bowl. New England is a good team, and I like Brady, (big Trump supporter), so if they win I won't be disappointed either. No matter which way it goes, it should be a good game. I'm still glad the Panthers lost last year. I can't stand Cam Newton.

Oh, it's Super Bowl Fifty-One! I thought the Chinese had bought it and renamed it after one of their own, some guy named Li!      8)

FALCONS!

I quit watching the NFL many years ago, and because of the Anthem flap this year have not watched a game, even though my long-time favorite team did well.

As a Falcons fan for 40 years, I may have to rescind the ban for one game....but I'm on the fence because I'm a plain stubborn man, and I hate to compromise my principles.

Don't bother watching.
The halftime show is going to be "Lady" (using the term loosely) Gaga, who is just a younger version of Madonna.
Support your team in absentia.
I support the Pats and Tom Brady, f#ck the NFL.

True. I don't like much fire in my firewater so I mix it. I should make Manhattans instead of mixing with pop. I like the taste and it doesn't burn going down.

I don't like overpaid athletes acting like crybabies when things don't go their way so I don't watch any pro sports. I think high school and college sports are better but I don't watch those either.

For the record, I rarely watch the Stupid Bowl!

This year is probably going to be a pass...

Lady GooGoo has done some decent work lately but since she is going to get political I will not be watching!  The NFL should stick with football which they sometimes do a passable job of and keep out of politics!  I will not be watching.

JMHOFWIW

That's how I learned to drink bourbon.   My grandmother use to put liberal amounts of it in her egg nog.  Then whip it (with air) until it was lite and fluffy.   How much bourbon you ask?  So much than when you spooned the egg-nog into a glass you could turn the glass upside down and the nog wouldn't come out!

If you want to know if you have an addiction think about what you do.  I hate the super bowl.  It isn't about sport or competition.  It is a commercial money maker.  It is a sterile disney like production of entertainment that is overly pc.

With all I said above, and with the lack of integrity and ethics in the NFL over the rule breakers from last year being allowed to keep their title and even compete to return this year, I will still have it on.  I seldom watch much, but my football addiction won't let me ignore completely.

The good thing, next week I am delivering a 40lb box of wings to a certain rural address that will be made into several levels of GOOD for the day  ;D

There's nothing to shovel and I don't have any booze. Nothing I want to see on TV until after the Stupidbowl. 24 Legacy is on. I liked the original 24 series and hope this lives up to it. If not it's an hour and fifteen minutes wasted.

Brady needed to reset the most come back points record.
Best QB in NFL history.

Best QB in NFL history.

Can't argue that.
Most SB wins for a QB in NFL history as well, IIRC.

Hat's off to them.

Falcons, I understand from reading about it, just did what they have always done best.... choke.

I'm surprised we didn't hear Joe Buck comparing him to his boyfriend Rodgers during the time of needing to come back or as the come back happened.  I may have missed it, but I didn't hear Aaron Rodgers mentioned at all.  That must have been a tough one for Buck.  Maybe he had a post it note on his desk that said "Don't say it!"

Most SB's for a single QB
Most SB comeback points,
First SB to go into OT. IIRC
Biggest FU to Goodell. LOL
Might have been some other records as well.

The game was phenomenal to watch. I can't believe how Atlanta fell apart. They were simply steamrolled by Brady & Co. in the last 15 minutes. It's always a bad omen when the owner goes down to the sidelines before the game is over. It's going to take the Falcons as long or longer to get over this, as it did the Panthers, when they thought it was going to be a cake walk.

He still has to hand him the keys to the new car he won for being MVP..... Again. Goodell is a steaming POS.

 ;D

This is nothing new for long-time Falcons fans.
They have a long and storied history of burning down in the last quarter after building a sizable lead (and in some instances, the last two minutes). Dallas burned 'em a new one in a play-off game back in the early 80's, IIRC, scored three times in the last two minutes or so.

It's Bush's fault.  8)
