Title: Judge Gorsuch thoughts.
Post by: bulldog75 on January 31, 2017, 10:26:30 PM
Thoughts guys. It appears that the NRA approves of him and most conservatives. I just want a judge to keep the liberals from gutting our rights.

He concluded: “Though the critics are loud and the temptations to join them may be many, mark me down too as a believer that the traditional account of the judicial role Justice Scalia defended will endure.”

'Judge Neil Gorsuch has supported the individual right to self-defense. SPECIFICALLY, HE WROTE IN AN OPINION THAT "THE SECOND AMENDMENT PROTECTS AN INDIVIDUAL’S RIGHT TO OWN FIREARMS AND MAY NOT BE INFRINGED LIGHTLY."'

Vincewarde so he is a good advocate for the second amendment. Makes me a very happy man.

I honestly, do not have a "imo" on him yet.   I need to dig into his rulings too form one.  (Unless he did something stupid in public)

If tomorrow the libs start wetting themselves over him... he gets my vote just so I can watch them squirm.

The best part of trump being elected is watching the left lose thier shit.

Trump said Mattis was the closest thing to Patton he could find. And Gorsuch was the closest thing to Scalia he could come up with. So far President Trump's batting 1,000! We didn't gain any real ground though. We just replaced some we had lost from Scalia's untimely departure. The real gain will come when Ginsberg retires or dies. (She's 82 and falls asleep at briefings). Replacing that flaming liberal with a hard core conservative, will really put the ball on our side of the court!

I LOVE liberal angst. ;D

I've gotten to the point I use it as a performance barometer, as to how good of a job Trump is doing. The louder they cry and whine, the more I know his job performance as President is where it needs to be. There is nothing more dangerous than a satisfied liberal.

This Rabbit is quite happy with Trump's SC appointment.  Gorsuch has backed-up his conservative credentials with hundreds of writings and opinions that are quite sound.  He's the real deal:  an originalist who does not believe the Constitution is a "living" document to be changed at society's whim.

And, as Billt, TAB and Tom note, he makes the libs wet themselves.  That's just an added and very enjoyable benefit. ;D

Hey guys, while we're on the subject. What exactly is this, "Nuclear Option" they keep talking about? Is it some way to end the Filibuster?

Instead of a 2/3 majority they pass it on a simple majority vote. A gift from Harry Reid.

billt, read up on Gorsuch.  He was associated (I forget how) with one of the presently sitting justices!  It is possible, according to some annalists, that association can sway that justice in some way.

I'm glad that republicans are running the show otherwise we'd be stuck with gun banner Garland on the SC.

Gorsuch is pretty much an even trade off for Scalia. I'm waiting for that kook Ginsburg to croak or retire. She's already got one foot in the grave, and the other on a banana peel. Replacing her with a hard core conservative will really help get this country back on the track it needs to be running on. Besides, it will be fun watching the Dems. $h!t themselves over it.

Everything I hear/read from all sides is that he is another Scalia.  Strict Constitution first.  This is what the CFO hates, because they know what will happen if good attorneys argue based on facts and foundation.  Another positive I heard today is that he has excellent communication skills with his strong writing skill.  This makes his decisions very clear and understandable to more people than just sports.

The word I heard used was "textualist".
Now for Ginsburg to admit she died in  2005

Drinking yourself into a stupor before an Obama SOTU keeps the blood pressure from going to high.
