Title: Hannah "Not" Montana from the NC coast
Post by: twyacht on September 05, 2008, 08:19:12 PM
Just to update all my friends here at DRTV, here in Wilmington,NC, landfall is expected about 35-50 miles south of me in Little River, SC at the border, in a few hours.

Its been hurry up and wait most of the day. 2 Intermittent bands have come through with a tornado in Duplin County (no damage), and winds expected overnight around 40 to 65 knots.  3 to 7 inches of rain.

Covered my pool, took in the hanging plants, patio furniture, etc,..

Hannah is one of those storms where you make Hazerita's, enjoy the forum, and go to bed, the storm is moving 20mph and will be gone by tomorrow afternoon.

No I don't need gov't assistance, FEMA, or a trailer. Although my cats are bitchy being cooped up inside. ;D

If the power goes out, no big deal, the weather will be good enough tomorrow to get it back on. Plus my gen. runs great.
just thought I'd give you the skinny "man on the street" type thing,... If anything exciting happens, I'll take pictures.

The Hazerita's are just about ready. I only get riled when Jim Conture is in my town, he's north in Atlantic Beach, and will be disappointed by Hannah.

I hope those in Fl. miss Hurricane Ike, that's one storm with potential.

Throw the outdoor furniture into the pool.

Much easier.

Did you put up a "You loot, We shoot" sign?

Follow-up. Never lost power, just lost Time Warner cable, including internet, until a few minutes ago. I hate TW cable almost as much as Haz hates Vista. :P   Few gusts last night up to 60ish,..

Just finished raking the front yard, lots of leaves and twigs, small branches,, etc,... No big deal..

Now its headed up the east coast into Yankee land.

No damage, now the suns out and the wind is about 15-25 and gusty.

I have thrown the patio furniture in the pool before, but the wrought iron stuff, is a b**** to get out.

No need to put up "the" sign this time.  8)

Now I have too much ice,....Hmmmmm,... More Hazerita's!!! ;D

Thank the lord nothing much came of this one. But you know it being election time, fully expect some politician to knock on your door this afternoon to see what the government can do for you. Just tell them you are need of a new ice machine for the frig or a new blender !

If they are handing out MRE's try to get some with "Cherry nut bread" it's good, the oatmeal cookies though look and taste like fibreboard. ;D

Hannah is getting ready to roll over the Delaware Bay within the next two hours...it's about like a regular "Yankee" noreaster- wind 40-50 with the occasional bayonette-type gust that'll blow the glass out of a window. Typical seaside fare.
Looks like Ike might head off into the gulf, but you never know.

You do check for "presents" from your furry friends first, eh?   ;)
