Title: IRC 2017
Post by: alfsauve on November 03, 2017, 04:38:54 PM
Yes I'm here.  Shot Classifiers with Pat Hogue.  We were running neck and neck until the buzzer went off.

Took today for r&r.  Do 10 stages Saturday and 5 on Sunday.

Full report when I return.

We didn't stop there but we did tour "downtown" Frostproof.   We mainly ate at the places in Lake Wales.   I know Annette throught I was stalking her, but we ended up two nights in a row at the same eatery.  Also breakfast every morning at the hotel.

Did a quick trip over to Tampa on Friday.   Couldn't buy a gun from Shoot Straight because Hillsborough County has a 3 day waiting period!

Toured USF campus, where we were undergrads, 43 years ago.  My how things have changed.

It is a pleasant place to shoot.   I'm glad I went.  Shook hands with Frank Garcia.  His personal bay, I should have taken a lot more pictures, had 20 or so various sized steel plates.   All painted white, except for the 6" black area in the middle.  Didn't look like he ever misses.  Probably doesn't

Don't know that I'll ever go back to USA.  ICORE is moving on.   NV-2018, PA-2019

Nobody asked, but I  shot in Classic Division.

14th out of 21.
4th in Class C.
3rd Super Senior.

96th over all out of 133 when ranked against open and limited shooters.

What I gained most was confidence.   I cleaned stages 3,4 & 6, and had only 4 Mikes for the entire 14 stages, of which one had 50yd targets.

Stage 6 was interesting

ROUNDS: 8 rounds - LIMITED
TARGETS: 3-10” plates  10YDS, 3-12” plates @15YDS, 2-18x24 plates@20YDS

Did you read, LIMITED.   No makeups.

Stage 1 was a shoot house with 26,  count'm  26 targets.   BUT only 1 shot per target.   I scored 24A & 2B engaging some of the closer ones single handed.

Can't wait to go back

Not the IRC but the ICORE Postal Match 2017.

Now I'm sure some competitors practice this match and their clubs hold multiple run-throughs.   Our club only held it once.  I did practice some of situations, but basically not really practice running an any actual stage.

I shot Classic (6 rounds, iron sights, speedloaders) and finished  210/419 shooting against Open and Limited guns.   In the Classic Division I finished 39th out of 125.  Not bad.  Not what I'd call a "competitor", but not bad.

Better than anything I can do.  I'd say that's good, respectable shooting.

I see where you mentioned seasoned-seniority citizen status fast approaching....methinks you'll have a bit more trigger time to practice and should see a bump up in your standings!

You're exactly in the middle of the pack Alf, 209 above you and 209 below. I would be 400+/409. I haven't shot in much too long of a time and never competed in any discipline. You did well in Classic.
