As much as I can't stand the guy, I don't like to see people being fired based only on accusations.

And what's with this secret, "F*#K BUTTON" under his desk that locks his door? How did he get that request through building maintenance? Something else that stinks. Way too many people in the shadows who were playing ball with this guy.

Any guy that "needs" a secret button to lock his door, isn't because he's afraid of people catching him working too hard. Someone needs to go through the entire executive branch of that company with a chain saw.

I agree with BillT...as much as I like to see these turdbags go down, it's pretty scary how this is unfolding. One accusation and you can lose your job plus all other work, residuals, etc. All with zero due process. I know it's private industry, not the government, but it's about as anti-american as it gets.

I'm also a little suspicious of all the libitards getting called out here. I'm wondering if they're making some scapegoats, eating some of their own in order to set the precedent that Trump should step down. I wouldn't rule out some kind of plot.

I find it really funny too that the entertainment industry is so rabid about enforcing this, when EVERYONE has known for decades that THAT is how the game is played. The powerful demand skin to curry favor,
and as much as women are victims of this, many women in that industry have also built their careers "on their backs".  It's just an amazing pile of layer upon layer upon layer of hipocracy.

Very true. The "Casting Couch" has been around long before the day they squeezed Marilyn Monroe into a tight skirt and 5" heels.

Here is something else that stinks on ice with this whole thing. This morning Fox News is reporting that he raped a MARRIED employee in his office, until she passed out. And nothing comes out until now? So we're expected to believe this broad comes home. And when her husband asks her, "Hey honey, how did your day go"? Her replay is, "Not so good, my boss F*#KED my brains out on his desk until I passed out"..... And nothing happens?

This guy, as it turns out, is now her ex husband. Big shocker there. If this actually happened, it was because BOTH parties involved consented to it at the time. Now she's divorced, and sees $$$$$$ on the horizon. And of course she's now "traumatized" by the whole thing, that a few million will easily "cure".

This whole thing stinks worse than a fish market during a record heat wave.

Interesting take on this on the Federalist today:
http://thefederalist.com/2017/11/30/sex-assault-claims-dont-prove-male-toxicity-absence-masculinity/

I read this article and found it to be the first accurate representation of real masculinity that I have seen in a great deal of life.

I think we have a lengthy history of societal errors that have contributed to this mess.  First, although I thoroughly enjoyed the '60s, that whole "free love" thing was simply libidinous immorality.  Sex without love/marriage is only using another person for immediate gratification. It was ungodly.  It was wrong.  But it removed the stigma of sin and legitimized immoral behavior.

Second, I think Alan Alda (of M.A.S.H. fame) did much to squelch the idea of strong masculinity in American culture.  You will recall that M.A.S.H. was the most widely watched series in virtually all demographics at the time.  Alda's insipid portrayal of "caring, crying" manhood corrupted an entire generation of young men and did much to eliminate the concept of a "John Wayne" type of hero.  What we used to call sissies became heroes.  And heroes became "toxic" males.

Third, as a nation we stopped venerating legitimate families and motherhood.  Murphy Brown (played by "feminist" Cybill Shepherd) was one of the first to choose to be an unwed mother.  And it was portrayed as if it was a legitimately correct thing to do.  That TV show legitimized illegitimacy for generations to come.

There is much more that contributed to what I see as the impending downfall of American society.  But you can form your own list of causes from your own observations.

Crusader is right on the money here. Like most things that go wrong in society, it is all man made. Add to all of this the millennial generation with their loose morals that include, "sexting", and "hooking up", (another term for meaningless screwing), and American morals and society are rapidly circling the drain. Add in all the easily accessible free Internet porn, and it's spreading faster than the Ebola virus in a sealed room.

The porn industry in general is a good example of this rapid deterioration of society. Before VHS tape recorders came into homes, "porn stars" for the most part, were mostly nothing but drug addicted whores, who performed for a few hundred bucks, or a drug fix. You had to go to the seedy part of town to even buy it. Now it's not only free, but just a click of a mouse away. Today's porn stars are gorgeous women who pursue a career in the industry. And many of the top ones make millions. Most end up as broke, used up, washed up pieces of meat that have lived beyond their, "expiration date".

But they attract other young women who admire their "success", and want to be just like them. The result is more garbage circling the drain. This has all gotten out of control. And in the process has destroyed the family unit we all grew up in. How many kids today graduate high school living in 2 parent families? Not many.

Blacks are the best example of this. Today 72% of black babies are born out of wedlock.

 http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/jul/29/don-lemon/cnns-don-lemon-says-more-72-percent-african-americ/

And we wonder why the black race is in such social economic disarray? Is anyone going to be stupid enough to tell me Detroit went to hell because of whites? It went to hell because all the white people LEFT. And now we have the young whites playing what amounts to "catch up" with this same, "gutter morality". This is all going 100 MPH down a dead end road. And it's going to make for a hell of a wreck.

Absolutely right, Tim.  Edger's daughter was Murphy.  See what the '60s did to me?  I should have remembered that correctly. It's an example of fingers flying faster than thought.

Yeah, and he wants to go down with a $30 million check.  It's probably hush money so that he doesn't rat on the guys who knew what he was doing.

Last I heard, they are denying Lauer the $30 million "severance" package.  They are trying to cover their butts and make it appear they are doing, or at least trying to do the right thing.

I believe we are going to see a great deal more stem from this, and none of it is going to be pretty.  This is just the top of the sh!t-pit that is NBC and you never know how deep a pit is until you start cleaning it out.

My parents (born in the 1920s) passed down a great deal of wisdom as they raised me.  One of the concepts that made a big impression on me was the idea of avoiding even the appearance of impropriety.  It was attached to the idea that God is always watching, but summed up as, "If you wouldn't want your mother to see you doing it, don't."

Doesn't seem to have much application in today's world.

I've been doing things my whole life that I wouldn't want my mother to see. "God is watching you" is just a threat to keep people in line.

Of course God is watching is used as a threat to keep people in line.  But, that doesn't mean He isn't watching.  And the idea of doing stuff you wouldn't want your mother to see comes with an implied caveat:  personal but properly private stuff is obviously exempt.

My mom is gone, but I wouldn't have wanted her (or anyone else) watching me make love to Bunny, or taking a shower or countless other things that I believe God would approve.

The point is, having my mom watch me hit on a married woman, or any woman other than my wife, would have been mortifying--and rightly so.  But, because I was taught that lesson early on, I have never needed to envision my mom glaring at me to know that sort of immoral behavior is wrong.  It used to be called sin.  Around my house, it still is.

So did NBC. They just didn't say or do anything about it because you can't piss off the talent (ptui!) or admit that your 'squeaky clean' reputation might take a hit for doing the right thing.
The commies have to keep up appearances ya know...
