First, I confess to enjoying football. While I hadn't watched an NFL game this season, until Sunday, I missed the game.
Sunday we turned on the Bears game, and my son-in-law pointed out the empty seats. The game was BORING, so we switched to another. Same empty seats. He watches games every week, and stated the NFL needs to address the Kapernick/Protest mess.
In his business, he is seeing chicken wing prices dropping, with no bottom in sight. He talked to a packer about this, and was given two reasons:
1. Last year wings were in short supply, due to demand, and wing users shifted to chicken fingers made from boneless skinless breasts, and the trend has stuck;
2. Sports Bars are seeing sharp declines in business during their prime business venture - Game day entertainment.
People aren't going to games, people aren't going to sports bars, and this lends to the assumption they are cutting back watching at home.
How will the NFL stop the bleeding?
How long before the owners grow a pair and dump the league executives and take control of THEIR business?

That's great.

I don't think the bleeding will stop. First off, Roger Goodell is an a$$hole. He let all of this get completely out of hand. All this gutless pussy had to do was grow a pair, and bench Kaepernick for 3 games right at the get go, when all this stupid nonsense started. And ALL of this would have quietly went away. It's like house breaking a puppy. Swat him in the ass hard right off the bat, and push his nose into the mess he made, and he'll be cured of a very bad habit very quickly.
But no. Instead he let it fester and grow into this giant smelly mess, that has polarized the American people. Flag and country vs. NFL. The NFL lost, and will continue to lose. They're a victim of their own arrogant creation, and thought they could do no wrong. Just like Hillary and the Democrats. They were both wrong, and both are now paying the price. Actions have consequences. No matter if your a little dog, crapping on the living room rug.... Or a multi billion dollar organization, crapping on the American Flag, and the Anthem that supports it.

Billt, I see two flaws in your thinking...
1. Kaepernick isn't as intelligent as a puppy.
2. He IS smarter than Goodell.

Yep.

And, Yep.
Ol' Peg hit the Yep trifecta today.

The NFL management says this is a Free Speech issue but past situations of this nature prove it is not. Tim Tebow was denied his right to "take a knee" during a game.
I won't claim to know the NFL managements motives, but the one place they can be affected is in their wallet.
One day boycotts will do nothing. If this matters to you and you are serious about objecting to this, and not just making a "gesture" then forgo watching NFL games until it is resolved.
Should the wallets be hit hard enough, player salaries will become affected and then you will how much the players support this.
P.S. While I enjoy watching football, I am not a fan, so not watching is no discomfort to me.
-
Another thing is once football watchers leave, they'll find other things to do on Sunday. And after a few weeks they will have forgotten all about the NFL. They'll see the scores on the 10 O'clock news, and that's it.
It's going to be hard to get those people back once they've lost them. This is serious, and you can bet the NFL is scared $h!tless over this. This years Super Bowl will tell a lot. If it bleeds over into that, they're in real trouble. It will be all downhill from there.
-
I've never seen a football game in my life, but if I was a fan I would boycott them and send them an email telling them why.

I read today that the NFL has cancelled all of the TV broadcasts for the rest of the year IF the teams involved are not in contention for the playoffs. They mumbled something about "building the drama for the playoff games" or some other asinine comment.
Add to this the Papa John's fiasco, wherein they canned the freakin' FOUNDER of the company, and there is a lot of social re-engineering going on, only not the kind that is going to help the owners nor the NFL.
Good riddance to them!

All true. And it seems as if whatever move they make to counter this sinking ship they deliberately rammed the iceberg with, it is always the WRONG move. Jerry Jones joining his players to, "take a knee", before the Anthem was played, is a good example of the stupidity we're seeing. As all of these panic stricken multi millionaires are all worried that they'll have to start buying cheaper private jets, and downsize their mansions if this continues.
I'm not a vindictive type of person. But I'll be the first to admit I'm enjoying this self induced train wreck. These ass wipes deserve every bit of it. They're all victims of their own stupidity. They've done nothing but exchange common sense for some half assed attempt at political correctness, by trying to play both sides of the fence. And now they've seen where it's gotten them. And it appears that all of them put together don't have a single clue as to what to do about any of it...... Except to do what we're all doing. Watch it all get worse with each passing day.

It won't bother me if the NFL goes out of business.

I second that.

Cajun John Wayne at it again. He used to be Captain Higgins...now he is US Rep Clay Higgins.

Clint Smith.

Clint isn't sounding too good. Is he recovering from some type of throat ailment?

I have a "feeling" about the Flag. It's sort of a combination of Pride, Honor, Thankfulness, Dreams and Hopes...and more. I've not been able to pin it down in words, but Cajun John Wayne pretty much nailed it "..because The Flag is Alive inside of me!"
-
I probably need to get a class with him sooner or later. I didn't know he was so old...just 6-7 years more than me.

He's had a few surgeries on his neck, so I don't know if that could have any effect on vocal chords or muscles etc........most probably from many years screaming range commands from a time before electronic muffs.
