Title: Glock 23 and the Dark Side
Post by: wisconsin on September 09, 2008, 04:52:27 PM
Well today was a great day   :)  my son came over to shoot with me for the first time in, well I can't really even remember when the last time was. Anyway, he told me he bought a 40 cal. but didn't say what it was. So being a 1911 man tried and true as I am I thought he got a deal on a 1911  :(  Nope he pulled one of those Glock things out of his case and all of a sudden from deep inside my gun box my 1911's started to growl. I told my 5" & 6" it was my son's Glock and it would be OK! All kidding aside he got a great deal on it. A model 23 with 3 mags, a cleaning kit for all gun calibers, 100 rds of defensive ammo, for $ 350. At Gander Mountain they are getting $550 for them used. I was really glad that he didn't take the first offer the guy gave him ($500) and talked him down to $350. He was having a hard time getting a good group with WWB ammo but after me showing him where his trigger reset ( Thank You MB ) was and too focus only on his front sight his groups tightened right up and he started to smile. I must say that I have always liked the feel and shoot ability of the Glocks I just could never get use to the grip angle like my 1911's. Any who it was a dam great day for the old man. Its good to be alive  :)

Almost see a credit card commercial,.......the end result?   Priceless.

Congratulations! Great Deal.

1911's are old souls, they understand. I had to get a counselor when I got my M+P, but it worked out nicely.

I keep an eye on a lot of the online gun sites, looking for deals, but I've never hear of SOG.  Can someone please inform me as to what the abreviation stands for so I can check it out?  Thanks.

I didn't know there were shrinks for 1911's that have been traumatized, dogs cats and old liberals I knew could find a therapist.  ;D

I have a 9 year old. I started him shooting at 7. He now favors his custom Hi-Point 995 carbine and .22 pistol. He is a crack shot on the 9mm carbine.

It is an awesome feeling being out there with your son and passing on the wisdom of firearms you have learned to them.  :)

The oldest might finally get a chance to shoot her M&P-9 tomorrow.  She got it for her birthday in May and due to issues with the local range (they didn't send the gate code) and travel I haven't been able to take her out to shoot.  She does OK with the G17 (doesn't like the 23 at all, to much kick) but really shots the 1911 well.

All Glocks seem to be a bit snappy due to their weight. Some people just don't like snappy. :)

Thats a great story. Your son got a good deal. I would recommend for him to always keep the barrel clean and he should have thousands of rounds worth of good shooting. I love the G23. It is my favorite Glock. Your son has good taste.  ;)

Sorry ... I will make the personal sacrifice to continue to search to suit your tastes.

It's going to be painful, but I'm willing to do it "just for you."   ;D

Never been much of a Glock fan, but after watching that two-gun demonstration, I realized that I have always admired a nice pair.
