Title: Holsters for CCW = Safariland and JM4
Post by: alfsauve on April 06, 2018, 11:58:56 AM
Two things I ordered lately.

Ordered a Safariland holster for my Shield 9mm to replace the bulky Blade Teck thing I've been using.  (I'm in to streamlineing lately if you haven't noticed.)

I ordered it on 3/15 and my credit card got hit almost right away.   Then about 3/29 they sent a customer service survey.   I checked and my order was still "In Process".  Needless to say, asking for my opinion before you've shipped the product didn't result in very good ratings.

It finally shipped.  Safriland uses a 3rd party dealer to handle the ecommerce so techincally I didn't buy it direct from Safriland, but from Ecommerce Website in JAX.   Will report later.

 ========================

I also got a JM4 magnetic retention holster for my LCP. (They shipped the next day!)   I like it.  Goes on easily.  Works with or without belt.  Works if I stick it in my back pocket.  Of course the retention flap is on the outside, but that's okay in many instances.  (Still working out which I want to do for true pocket carry.  Probably Andrews, but at the moment I'm using my simple Uncle Mikes padded sleeve.)   Wish I'd gotten one of these for the Shield instead of the Safriland at this point, but I'll give it a try.

The only thing I've ever had from Safariland was a pair of speedloaders. They may have made the molded synthetic belt pouch I had for them too. They seemed to be of good quality and worked well with my Dan Wesson. I'll be interested in seeing how you like their holster.

Alf... if the Safariland doesn't work out you might look at one of these... I have one for my G43 and works well, good clip, and body shield... not real cheap

Thanks, Les,

Actually the Tulsters not expensive at all.

What I like about the Safriland was that though it's still "plastic" (thermoform material) unlike most others this one is two halfs and stitched together like a leather holster.   Maybe a little wider than the typical Kyodex, but it appears somewhat less bulky.  What took so long was they make these to order.

My sons rarely come down to my "gun cave" but I was loaning the middle one my R7 air rifle and showed him all the new setup.  We opened "the holster drawer" and he gasped.  I explain that they multiply on their own.   While I give away or sell, scopes, stocks, barrels and other parts, holsters are forever.  I warned him that in the not to distance future he'd have a box full himself, and he'd be scratching his head wondering where they all came from.

Lots of people have a box full before the find the Goldilocks holster, the one that's just right.

Kydex just doesn't work for me on concealed carry.  I carry IWB and I'm just not happy unless it's leather in an Uncle Lou pattern.
