WASHINGTON – Barack Obama put his foot in his mouth today when he said "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig" - which the angry McCain campaign charged was an outlandish attack on runningmate Sarah Palin.
Campaigning in Virginia, Obama tore into his rivals for not representing real change.
"You know, you can put lipstick on a pig," Obama said -- "but it's still a pig."
Many in the crowd who leapt to their feet in delight at the old Washington expression – taking the "pig" comment as a direct slam at Palin.
Palin's most memorable line during his vice presidential acceptance speech at the GOP convention was the joke: "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick."
Obama continued: "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called 'change,'" Obama continued, "it's still gonna stink after eight years.
"We've had enough of the same old thing! It's time to bring about real change to Washington. And that's the choice you've got in this election."
The Obama camp says Obama was not referring to palin with the line, calling it an old expression.
The Obama camp has struggled with how to handle their newest rival, who has brought new energy to McCain's ticket, evidenced by a jump in the polls, a surge in volunteers, and big crowds.
Recent polls show the race to be a dead heat.
But in recent days, both Obama has been ratcheting up direct hits on Palin, portraying her as indistinguishable from McCain and President Bush, and talking repeatedly about how he needs to go to Alaska to see what's going on up there.
Many of Obama's supporters have been fixing their ire on Palin as the race tightens.
In Farmington Hills, crowd members booed when Obama first mentioned Palin's name and laughed when he said she had a compelling biography. "Whatever," an audience member shouted, as Obama tried to continue.
In Dayton, Ohio, yesterday, the crowd cheered "No pit bulls! No pit bulls!" - a reference to Palin's joke.
The intensity comes as new polls show McCain seizing the initiative among white working class women voters.

On My way home I was listening to Mark Levin's radio show, and a female independent voter called in damn near in tears, She was a Hillary supporter, and thought B'ho was not interested in her vote based on the way his party was treating Sarah Palin, Although pro-choice, and a Hillary supporter, she was voting for the McCain/Palin ticket, I think this is important, McCain/Palin, not the McCain ticket, the combination is the key. She also mentioned her like minded female friends were voting the same.
HMMMMMMMMMMM

Change you can believe in with experience you have to dig for.
Mr. Obama, there was another charismatic speaker that spoke of change. He even achieved it. Along the way, he also ruined the Charlie Chaplin mustache for everyone.
This is too easy. The next Obama supporter you come across, ask what is the change that we need and how will it be delivered. Ask for specifics on both what needs changing and how Obama will do it. It will be roughly the equivilent of the Old West cliche' of shooting at someone's feet and asking them to dance. In plain English, it is being illistrated daily why the Democrats' mascot is a jackdonkey.
