Title: It followed me home...
Post by: TAB on November 04, 2019, 05:01:04 PM
I just bought an hk416. ( 22lr hk  ar)

I got home, started my new gun cleaning process... then realized, I don't have any 22lr in this state.   :o.

It was not a impulse buy I swear.   8)

One day I will learn to leave the wallet at home when I go to the toy store.

I've had very good results from CCI Blazer... and pretty good price per round if bought by the 5000 case... I've shot over 7000 this last year.. variety of auto loaders...mostly a couple of CMMG conversions for ARs and an Advantage Arms conversion on my G17 with Venom and dovetail mount.

my latest project is the completion of the Ruger Charger project in the PMACA chassis, with a UTG long scout rail... off shore back up front sight and carry handle AR rear sight... the long rail extended the front sight far enough that I can get the front sight in good focus using my upper portion of my bifocals... I use the rifle length AR buffer tube (milled the end flat) as a shoulder support ... the little gun would be an excellent option for someone with recoil and noise concerns... the Charger was started as a proof of concept for a quick handling, relatively high capacity firearm to be used inside a vehicle without hearing protection...

MAUSERMAN... if you were referring to me... I really like the idea that the chassis allows you to use AR accessories... I'm used to the feel of an AR hand grip for trigger control... my STC 10/22 had a thumb hole stock, but this just feels better to me.... I have some AR butt stock/tubes and grips lying around, and may build a rifle length one as a project in the new year...PMACA has a long chassis, and I think it would make a good basis for rifle length for Steel Challenge

I picked up the Charger at the LGS for a reasonably good price.. it is a take down, but would have rather gotten a fixed barrel one... if you are looking for a short pistol with a support, look at COPPER CUSTOM... they have an adapter that attaches directly to a polymer framed standard Charger that adapts an AR buffer tube... the original purpose of the Charger was to look at a platform that would provide high volume of fire, minimum recoil, and relatively low muzzle blast for inside of an auto... what I came up with does that... the rifle buffer tube is easily removed, and with the barrel removed, makes a very small package

I only have about 50 rounds thru it, its no fun in the rain.  So i called it a day.   After i got it sighted in i can easil6 hit a clay pigeon  at 50 yards off hand.  ~4 3/8"   i have not really tested it further then that.  Going to take it with me to the families thanksgiving.  Should be able to give it a work out there.

Tab is it a full sized replica or scaled down a bit?

Full sized, but it is very light compared to a normal ar.

Thank goodness it?s not a scaled replica. My local ffl has three on order. Has it been Ammo sensitive? How?s the weight? I plan on teaching some of my little cousins the joy of shooting. Apparently judo 🥋 is a bit more scary to them. I?m not sold on the M&P 22

I'd like to get a little feedback on the M&P 22 as well.  I liked them several years ago but I dunno how they run these days...or if there have been any changes at all to them.  I see that Palmetto State has them for $300.....which has me intrigued.

Has anyone here been running a recently made M&P 22?  How does it run?

So yesterday we shot it a bunch, it has ~500 rounds thru it of at least 7 diffrent flavors.  The only ones it did not cycle with were the Aguila SSS.  Which to be fair dont cycle in 90+% of autos.   It still ate every standard and high velocity  rounds thru it.   Not tried the suppressor or clampes a scope on it for accuracy, but its miniute of tin can at about 50 yard with better stuff and miniute  of can at 25 yard even with the cheap lead stuff.   It even did min of tin can with yellow jackets at 25 yards.  Which is not tipical.  Still not tried it with the can. Will have yo wait for me either to drive to the indoor range or after thr end of the year for that
