Title: Such a shame Sig 226 vs 2022
Post by: MAUSERMAN on March 01, 2020, 12:59:01 AM
It?s just a shame that sig quality has gone to crap. I have an older sigpro that chugs along with no issue. My 226 on the other hand is just a problem child. The FTE FTF and the crappy magazines make it a irritating to shoot. I?ve sent her in and they said it was fixed it and replaced the 2 mags. They polished the feed ramp and replaced the extractor. Today the dang slide lock broke in half. I truly hate this gun. $900 paper weight 😡

I have an older 226 and I've got to say it's one of my favorites.  Runs anything I feed it flawlessly.  I've got several mags from various companies (even relatively cheap ones, but they're hard to find) and they feed/eject without a problem.  I like it so much that it's been my EDC for the past year-plus in a great OWB holster I got from 1791 (https://1791gunleather.com/).  My only complaint--and it's really not a complaint--is it's a fairly large pistol and not all that easy to carry concealed.  It carries 15 rounds plus 1 and that's hard to hide. The holster helps, but I'm looking for a Beretta compact 9mm to see if I like that better.  I have a thing for hammer fired over striker fired.  I carried a Glock 27 for many years without incident, but I still like the idea of hammer fired.

Anyway, Sig is pretty responsive to performance issues, so I wish you good luck in resolving your problems.

Mauserman I really hate to hear that.  I've been wanting a 226 for years and have always found a way to get something else.  It was one of the few pistols that is creating a hole in my collection.

I guess I need to buy a good used one now that I see you are having problems...which isn't a problem I don't mind saving a few $$$ buying used.

I sure hope you get that fixed and it doesn't end up like that crappy Sig Mosquito I have....

Hazcat has a Mosquito that went back to Sig several times.   Not sure what they finally did,  but it runs perfectly now.  I took it with me to Arizona and ran a coupleof boxes of CCI through it with not one failure. So, it seems Sig is a responsible manufacturer.   I can't imagine they wouldn't work on the 226 until it's fixed.  As I said above,  I love my 226.

What is Haz up to these days?  Any way to talk him into wasting time here?

He's retired and taking it easy after another heart attack and a cabbage.  His kid graduated from ship's engineer school and is working in the merchant fleet.  The two of them are buying a large piece of desert in Arizona and hope to build a refuge there.  They are actually going out to look at it next week.  And, no, there is no way to talk him into wasting time here.

Sorry to hear that he's had a heart attack.  I hope he finds some peace in Arizona.

I hope he?s doing well. He was always informative and helpful. Unfortunately for me I hate having to send back a gun over and over again for service. I have some lesser handguns we?ll say, and none have failed me as bad. For the price point sig legacy firearms shouldn?t be this bad. I had a sig 556 that I lost money on because it was a POS. I can?t bring myself to trust them anymore.

I will be doing some consulting  out in the az desert  in a few weeks.  Wouldn't be a small world if they actually hired  me.
( i know its not him, but still would be a funny twist)
Would not be the 1st time i met  some one from  a forums  for work with out knowing it until i shook thier hand.

Not sure what part he of az he is in, but if he still has my number he can call me.  I can at least  buy him lunch.

That sucks you are having issues with your 226.  I still  have my 226r dak from the coasties.  Other than the dak its been a great gun.  Granted it is almost 20 years old

Tell the old coot, er, cat I said hello and to take care.

As to Sig, the old 226 and 220 were goals of mine that I never actively pursued. I've never owned a 9mm (wife bought a Ruger two weeks ago and it's the first 9mm in the family) but if I had ever bought one it would've been either a 226 or a BHP.
Sad to see them having issues.

Got my 226 back finally. I took to the range at lunch, and she ran perfectly for once. This is was I expected from sig. Its a shame that it took 3 trips to sig to get it running right. Time will tell. I?ll put at least 1000 rounds threw it before I can trust it.

It's good to hear they keep working on it.  Even after two previous trips...that's pretty good.

I really hope third time is the charm. Sig has made me rethink ever purchasing another one of their firearms. I?ve had 2 of 3 sig firearms fail me

Its not what a company does right that defines  them, its what they do when they  may a mistake.

They?ve rectified their mistake, but why would a company?s flagship pistol leave the factory with suck poor QC? It?s like the 320 and 365. What the deal? My Sig556 I call the 50/50 rifle. It either works or not at all. Sent it 3 times as well and it still doesn?t work.
