Title: Flex Seal on leather washer handle
Post by: ninefingers on August 01, 2020, 04:14:22 PM
I have an old Kabar with leather washer stacked handle. While the new versions with Kraton handles are appealing, I don't needed another.

Would black Flex Seal sprayed on the handle be a cost effective compromise? It should water proof the leather, as well as provide a more “grippy” surface.

What do you think?

Yes, you'll just have to respay it as it wears, tape off where you don't want it and you're good to go.

I would use the tool handle dip.  Its cheap, easy to apply and goes on much thicker than flex seal.

I carried that plastic dip in the parts store.  It was great stuff, and once people tried it they would go through a lot.
