I dont need another 12 ga 1100, but i want this one.
-
You can get this one cheaper. And it's brand new / unfired. Plus, it's an even better looking gun, with much higher grade Walnut, Laser cut checkering, (not pressed), and gold inlay in the receiver, pistol grip cap, and barrel.

I like the ducks unlimited. I killed my 1st ducl with an 1100. Sadly a scumbag family memeber stole after my grandfather died.

An itinerary like this says "luck" is not an option.
Not the good kind any way.
Of the 3 least popular destinations , you hit my 2 of my top 3.
Baltimore instead of Dallas. ;D

This retirement crap sucks. I am still working 80+hours a week.
It is just after 10 on Saturday, i have spent 3 hours on my phone.
At least i am not building the house right now. Lumber prices have more than doubled this year. Sheet stock is about 2.5x

Guy was just bitching to me yesterday, lumber yard charged him $8 each for 8 ft 2X4's that had bark on round edges.
Sawing up the damned slab pile.

What gives?

330 million people sitting home for 6 months with nothing to do but home projects.
-
That makes sense. I've been doing much the same myself. Although not with lumber, or because of Corona. But I've been replacing and installing a lot of stuff around the house. Appliances, water heaters and softeners, garage doors, paint, plumbing fixtures, irrigation lines, and assorted other $h!t. Honest to God, for I while I was going to Home Depot and Lowe's a couple times a day. And being greeted with, "You're back again!"
It all comes with the territory when you buy a 30 year old home. Overall the house is in great shape, and was well cared for. But even with that, time takes it's toll. Hell, the washing machine that came with the house lasted 15 minutes. The first load she put in filled the tub, then stopped. The next thing you could smell was like something electrical burning. And after that it all started. New washing machine, dishwasher, water heater, and water softener. Now I've finally got everything done. So hopefully I can stay out of hardware and home improvement stores for the remainder of the Winter.

That, plus the building product industry is not considered essential, so they were part of what was shut down early on. Don't ask me about the reasoning, because I don't get it. Carpenters worked, companies like ABC went full steam delivering product, but those producing product were shut down. We are getting a deck put on our house. We signed for it in June, and there is still a backlog of pressure treated lumber. We may not get it before winter sets in.
-
Then there is the hurricanes and people buying up every scrap of wood in entire lots. Out west people are driving 100s of miles to get materials to keep working. There is the largest lumber train yard in the usa just out side of Spokane. I drove buy there a few weeks back. It was empty, i mean not a single unit of anything on the ground. Normally its dozens of acres stack 30' high. Only time i have ever heard of this happening in the past was when they had a fire and the entire yard burnt down.

We have a housing bubble going on right now. I'm renovating an old house over the last month and a half and have watched prices go up 8% plus in that time alone....if they have something to sell that you need.

330 million people sitting home for 6 months with nothing to do but home projects reinforce the COVID fallout shelters, build new secret underground bunkers, and prepare for TEOTWAWKI.

yes, but I am in Oakland this week. Project here went south due to bureaucrats stopping an already approved project. I am pretty sure I have a flat spot on my forehead from banging it against the wall. Only 16 more days and I don't have to respond to the calls any more. Not sure what I am going to do come Jan 1, but maybe just maybe I can sleep in past 5 am.

You may be disengaging about the time I may re engage. I went to Texas last week to evaluate a field for purchase for some friends. Looks like I'll be back at work for at least a couple of months getting things up and running for them. They also want adjacent area acquisitions and for me to run it so...maybe I will get another couple of years before I snag SSI.
-
I just want to get my house designed and built.
-
Same here. With this housing bubble things are just too expen$ive.
-
I don't even care about the $$$, I just want to have the week I need to sit down and draw the elevations/ floor plan. The steal building is done, out side of fitting out the electrical for the machinery I want.
Getting tired of renting.
-
Who needs a plan? Just start building and see what you end up with. ;) Just kidding, who wants a house like mine?
