Title: Oh Please. Give me a break eBay
Post by: alfsauve on November 10, 2020, 02:15:19 PM
I rarely order via eBay.  Just don't like or trust it.  BUT...

I wanted a Moon Clip + Chamber Checker made by TK for my 929.  Problem is TK doesn't make them anymore. And they don't have any plans for the foreseeable future to do a run of them.

So I scrambled around to find a retailer with one in stock.  The only place I could initially find it was an eBay store.  They waited 3 weeks before it dawned on them that TK was not going to drop ship it.  Then they tried to reverse the order, ran into a problem with crediting my AMEX card and now want me to fix the problem!

PLUS TODAY THEY WANT ME TO RATE THE PRODUCT AND THEIR STORE!

I got chyour rating right here, mate.

p.s. Turns out Double Alpha actually had them in stock and shipped out the next business day, so I should have it in time for my next USPSA match Thursday which has now been cancelled due to Wuhan Flu.

p.s.s Revolver Supply claims they have them but it's been a week and "fullfillment pending" is still the status.  I bet they were counting on a drop ship from TK.  Worse case is I have a spare to sell at the next ICORE match.

This is why I don't trust E-Bay either. Like you, I've been tempted. But thus far I've been able to avoid them.

I had great luck buying OEM mags for my Sig P6 from eBay.

I don't want to know if you grabbed yourself in an (in)appropriate manner when you said "right here" to them Alf. ;D I never bought anything from eBay. So far I haven't had a good enough reason to. Anything I've wanted to buy I've found elsewhere or done without. There are just too many shady characters for me try to sort through if I want something. I had something I thought about selling on eBay but gave away instead. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

Someone online was selling G18 selector switches for airsoft pistols that fit real Glock G17s. I don't remember if it was Alibaba or eBay, but it was a convenient way for people to convert their Glocks to select-fire really cheap. And a convenient way for AFT to hunt them down. Just like the oil filter and solvent trap adaptors that are threaded to fit various modern sporting rifle muzzles, just because someone is selling them doesn't mean it's legal to own them. Assume big brother is always watching, like in this pic. :)

I'm the same way. Anything I've found there, I can also get on Amazon. And without the hassle of getting screwed over. I just don't know the in's and out's of dealing on E-Bay. And I've heard countless stories of people getting ripped off. And like so many other things these day's, it's all getting worse.... Not better.

Ebay doesn't have banking, video, music, groceries, and free next day shipping  ;D
They also do not have proprietary  tablets/devices.
I can not recommend Kindle highly enough.
Mine has been running about 17 hours a day for the past 4 years and still runs better than my 1 year old Lenovo laptop.
Currently holds 10 hours of music, a few hours of video and about 200 books.

I usually buy hard copies of any books I want to read, but I also borrowed a couple books online from my city library system and use OverDrive on my laptop or desktop to read them. I already have computers so I didn't have to buy anything. I downloaded some free books and dozens of free audio books online. I use OverDrive for the books and a media player on the laptop for the audio books which are all mp3s. I'll transfer some to my phone when I go on vacation. If you want to sleep like a baby, have someone read you a bedtime story. Just make sure it's not Stephen King. ;) I keep forgetting to get a library card for the county library system which will open up additional sources of online books, movies, etc. beyond what's in the local library systems, like Hoopla that requires the county library card in my case. You can also read free magazines online at RBdigital Magazines. We need to start a thread about places to get all this free media, but I need to get off of here for awhile and do something else. And eBay can get bent.

I haven't been over to eBay in years.  The only thing I bought on eBay was my Dillon 9000.  It was used, and I dealt with a private individual.  Everything went great.  Towards the end of my browsing them I saw that anything I had interest in was built with the solid gold option.  No way was I going to go to an online garage sale, send someone money and trust them to send me a used product that I had just paid new price for.

When you count your books by the hundred  Kindle is a God send.
