Went to pistol shoot last night and a new guy brought along a Baby Desert Eagle 9mm. First time ihad ever seen one in person and it was impressive. I didn't get to shoot it, but the lines are very nice, the fit and finish look great, and it's got real weight to it- about the heft of my 1911.
Maybe he'll come back again and I can try it (if I'm ever done thrashing around at my homework with this SR9) ::)

Good looking weapon.
-
if you like the desert eagle I have a co-worker that has two of them (.50) and was talking about selling them. (he wanted to use the cash to buy a Barrett rifle)
-
Jay- Everything I have heard about the Baby Eagle has been good. I think the only thing about them is they seem to be a little hard to get. But maybe its cause anytime they are in a shop they get bought right away.
Have you thought about the FNP-9 at all. I rented one at the Pistol range up the road here a while back and I really liked it. I think I had the medium size grip on it and it felt and shot great.
-
Actually I HAVE looked at the FN9- was one of the ones I was considering on that fateful day when I went down the path and got the YOu-know-what. The FN wasn't sparkling that day.
I love the looks of the Baby Eagle, but the Desert Eagle, just can't figure out what I'd do with all that 50 cal or 44 mag or whatever. It would be fun to shoot sometimes, but that's a lot of hardware.
-
Jay, I have heard nothing but good things about the 9mm , Im sure you would be happy with it.
-
I liked them better when they were the Jericho 941, 9mm and .41 AE in one pistol, but the .41 AE soon went the way of the dodo bird. Great concept and nice gun but now you just get one caliber per pistol.
-
From what I understand, the Baby Eagle is a CZ/EAA Witness clone. The Witness compact is very similar in design.

I like the .44 mag because I feel like more of a man shooting one.

Have you ever tried the Browning Hi-power? It has to be my all time favorite 9mm pistol. However, I would love to try one of the LTC's in 9mm.
-
I have looked at Hi Powers but never fired one. I'd like to own onethough. Trouble is I'm always attracted to the more sleek, new looking stuff. That's probably dumb.
-
Not dumb, you just know what you like. I am the opposite, and like the older designs. I have one H-power in .40 S&W and one in 9mm. Like the both, however, the .40 trigger bits my finger.
-
When the .40 S&W was new I heard that the High Power was the only 9mm that could handle it without a major re-design. They didn't call it a High Power for nothing. A new barrel and mag were supposed to be the main things it needed. Some of the other 9mms needed to have bigger heavier slides to handle the .40 caliber.
-
Hey, Frank. Are you saying that there are replacement barrels and mag for the Hi Power that will convert it to .40S&W??
Mac.
-
I've always wanted one of those Browning High Power Captain models with the tangent rear sight. In .40 caliber. 8)

Hey, Frank. Are you saying that there are replacement barrels and mag for the Hi Power that will convert it to .40S&W??
Mac.
No. Just that it was easy for the factory to convert them without redesigning the gun. From what I read every other 9mm pistol went back to the drawing board but the High Power could already handle the pressure generated by the .40 S&W. It didn't need to be beefed up but all the others did.
-
So did HiPower they went from forged frame's to stronger cast frame's because of the 40S&W.
-
Most people say forgings are stronger but some people say castings are stronger. They all say castings are cheaper to make so that's why they did it.
