Mine came yesterday, and I almost cut the damn thing up, because I thought it was another come on for a credit card. It didn't have any standout markings saying it was from the government. It was a Visa card with both me and my wife's name on it. With one of those tapes across the card with a, "call to activate" 1-888 number on it. We get them all the time.
As it turns out, now they appear to be sending your benefit via credit card that you must call to activate, before you are able to access the benefits.... $600.00 / $1,200.00. I'm assuming this is done for fraud purposes. (Live people cashing dead people's checks, etc.). Part of the activation process requires you to enter your Social Security Number.
So after my wife did that, I drove down to the bank and had it deposited into our account. She wanted my debit card, drivers license, along with the Visa, "Welfare Card". It all went right into our savings account without any issues. But I'm assuming you could just, "spend it as you go" at stores and such until you ran it dry. We'll keep the card for a few weeks, just to be safe, in case something didn't register right with all of this electronic rigmarole. But after I got home my wife checked our balance, and it showed a $1,200.00 increase. So all is well.
I just thought I'd mention it. So if any of you weren't expecting a credit card, DON'T CUT IT UP!

I never got direct deposit on either this, or the last one. (The last one we got checks via. snail mail). I have direct deposit for my Arizona state income tax, but I always have to pay the Feds. So that's most likely why we got the Visa card.

There’s a .gov site where you can enter your DD info if you don’t file your taxes electronically. There’s a 100% chance there’s more on the way!
Note: Even if you’re paying a tax you still have to enter deposit info with the IRS.

I file electronically every year. But they never used the information. At least as far as direct deposit. Perhaps because they've never given me an actual refund? I really couldn't say one way or the other. God, knows what the Federal government does... Or why? All I know is as of now I've gotten everything I was supposed to get. What Biden does is anyone's guess.

Direct Deposit a couple days after approved.
Billt, don't you efile your taxes? These giveaways are the best reason I have seen for efile. No wondering if I should endorse a check or activate a debit card. It just shows up in your account.

I don't, but my accountant does. I can't remember the last time I filed snail mail.

I got my new GP100 money :D

Pissed. SS goes direct deposit no prob, frigging IRS couldn't find me with a damned map .
On the other hand, I'll get one big check instead of 2 smaller ones.
On the same subject, sort of, any one else see the Classic Arms ad for the SCCY 9mm with red dot for $350 ?
I want to try out an optic sighted pistol, but that one looks about LCP size and that's just to small .
Are any companies offering similar deals on pistols the next size up ?
Say, compact service pistol size ?

I got mine by direct deposit last year. ;D It was a $600 deposit on 12-30-2020, the day before New Year's Eve.
ETA: I've had direct deposit for everything I could since I joined the army. I always had my twice a month salary in the bank the day before payday. If I needed any cash I withdrew some from the ATM at the bank. Then on payday I did whatever I wanted on my free time while everyone else was lined up down the block from the bank, waiting to cash their checks. Direct deposit is the only way to go IMO. When I hired in at GM they wouldn't let us have direct deposit at first, but eventually one year they did and I signed up for it from then on. Again I was doing whatever I wanted while everyone else was waiting in line at the bank. Except the one guy who went out to the turnstiles and handed his check to his wife at lunchtime.

I got mine about a week ago, unfortunately it's going to fix my car, new exhaust and repair the catalytic converter flex pipe so it will pass inspection. >:( >:(
