Title: Ruger 22/45

Thinking of buying one, anyone have the pros and cons, I have heard they are hard to clean,but good shooters, I would value your thoughts.

Never shot one, but have handled one and liked it.  Know one guy that has one, and he loves it.

My understanding is that they are similar to the Mark's for cleaning, and my feeling is that if you like the gun you can learn to clean it.  I've gotten used to my Mark III and don't think twice about tearing into it.

It is essentially the same as the Mark III but with a 1911 grip angle.

Love it, love it, love it. Did I mention I love it?  :)  With a bull barrel it's the same weight as a Mark II with a standard barrel. The composite grip frame cuts the weight that much. It's easy enough to get apart after you use a paper clip to pull the mainspring latch. If you still think it's a PITA to take it apart get the Speed Strip kit from Majestic Arms. It works great and is well worth it. With the kit installed you only have to unscrew one allen screw to take the Rugers apart. http://www.majesticarms.com/id10.html

I bought a stainless 22/45 when it first came out.  Have had absolutely zero problems with it.  It has shot many thousands of rounds.  As far as takedown is concerned, once you learn the technique, you need no tools and it disassembles easily, easier than a steel grip Mark II.
