Just passed a panhandler, playing an accordion, with a Venmo account for donations…

Probably makes more than you do.
They are in the same class as waitress's.
They are supposed to declare their earnings , and pay taxes, just like any other job.

Panhandlers are also subject to tax for the money they receive. Although gifts ordinarily don't count as taxable income, the IRS apparently sees begging as an occupation. With minimum income guidelines for having to file a return, though, most panhandlers probably wouldn't need to file a return in any event.

I’m on SS as my only income these days!  Undoubtedly, in Peabody, he might well exceed my income!  It was a fine accordion!  Lol

If he's any good I wouldn't really call it "pan handling" since he is providing a product for donations.
What I would call him is a music student whose neighbors threatened murder.
In Peabody they can make make that happen.   ;D

That does seem to be a thing with music students.
