Title: GSSF - River Bend Gun Club - Dawsonville
Post by: alfsauve on November 20, 2021, 11:07:27 AM
It's the River Bend Ballistic Challenge.   One of the two largest GSSF matches.

34degress this morning.  I went early because I figured others would wait until it warmed up.  I was right.  Checked in a 8:15 was done by 9:10.  Hung around for 30 minutes and pasted.

Hadn't shot my G17 in a year.  Did one sighting in session and one IDPA indoor league with it this week.

BEST SCORE EVER.   59.94 in AmCiv and 63.06 in Comp divisions.   Last year I was in the 80s.

This is a large match, typically 1,000 entries so it's can be tough to even stay on page 1 of the score sheet.

I'm hoping for Top Super Senior, but we'll see.

Out of what possible ?

Or is it a case where time bonus's etc make that variable ?

The later.  It's like IDPA, time + points down, but they use an NRA D1, tombstone, target.  It's always the same 3 stages, so you know if you're improving.   In the Amateur Civilian division, 60 is typical of top 10.  Really depends on who shows.  Given the weather I'd say 125-150 shooters in Am Civ.    I only had a total of 2 seconds down for the match.  BtB, in Unlimited (open) division scores run sub 40.

Of course GSSF refuses to go Practiscore so it's all manual score sheets that then get manually entered in spread sheets and finally printed (pdf) in about 2 weeks time.  4-5 weeks before it's final and prizes are distributed.  I'm told they're getting faster though.  But with a match spread over 2 days and manual entry, you've got to allow time for error correction or protests, which can't be done until the scores are posted.   I have had to request corrections myself.  Wait and see.  Wait and see.

How did you know I wore a kilt?   For 3 years, a McDonald tartan.  Toured Scotland, Britan, France and Germany, in it.  Those were the days.

BUMMER

Preliminay scores posted.    Last year, my 59.94 would have won handily.  But OH NO.  9 hot shots beat me out this year.
Arron Cobb shot a 45.16.   4 scores under 50 and 5 others shot under 60.

10th place.  And even more BUMMER, two of them were super seniors.

Maybe I'll get a random gun drawing.

Okay I was about to drop GSSF altogether.  No secret I don't like the stock Glock.  But now, I'm going to plan on visiting some of the smaller GSSF shoots around the SE.   I've won indoor league.  I've scored perfect 500 indoors, now I need an Amateur/Civilian outdoor match win.
