what the hell happened to the price of these great snubbies?
they went from 5-700 last year to 12-1500.
I was looking to get one for the misses as the pre 1981 guns are only 15 oz. which is very light for 6 shots of 38 spl.( no +p)
they are lighter than a 5 shot j frame, and have a trigger that does not suck ass.

All of the Colt "Snake" guns have gone through the roof price wise, When the Pythons got so expensive the collectors started buying the Diamondbacks,King Cobras,Anacondas and Cobras.
Check out the S&W 342PD(.38special +P)11 ounces empty or the 340PD (357mag)11.8 ounces empty.

Colt's website lists the 2 cheapest Cobras at $699.00 for the new models. One has a fiber optic front sight and the other has a brass bead front sight and is CA compliant. That's a better price than the old ones but I don't know if they suck or not. The Night Cobra is $200 more but has a front night sight, matte black DLC coating on the stainless steel frame, Double Action Only and bobbed hammer, and custom Colt G10 grips that won’t hang up on clothing or cover garments.

If the missus is also a lefty, Charter Arms makes the Undercover Southpaw. The .38 Special Southpaw is identical to the Undercover Lite, but completely reversed. The Southpaw is also available in a Pink Lady finish for ladies who are into pink, or guys who are tough enough to carry pink. Other than Charter Arms, the choices in new guns include Rock Island Armory and Taurus, and that's all I can think of right now. I'm going to tell my left-handed friend with a Charter Arms Bulldog about the Southpaw. He may want to dual-wield a .44 and .38. It's not the craziest thing I ever heard of. I didn't know it but there's a Bulldog .45 Colt too. That would be a nice snubbie to have. It's even more powerful and makes bigger holes.
