Title: CCI Uppercut 22 Long Rifle 32 Grain JHP. I say again JHP!
Post by: Big Frank on January 28, 2024, 09:49:23 PM
Introduced at SHOT Show, CCI Uppercut 22 Long Rifle 32 Grain JHP ammo is optimized for performance through semi-automatic handguns with 2.5- to 4-inch barrels. The unwaxed copper jacket plating on Uppercut measures six thousandths of an inch thick. It looks a lot like a Gold Dot, but without the dot.

Those might just be perfect for trapping.  GA law requires, trapped animals (other than those being collected for zoos/research) be shot with a .22lr.  Don't ask, I don't know why.

If Adv Outdoors has them next time I'm there I'll buy a box and see if they function well.

I have a good friend that is in her sixties, claims she is 5' ( with 2 " heels maybe) she is retired, can't handle recoil, this might be a viable option for her.   We have been looking for something for her that she can carry.   While no mean optimal, if this works it would bean option for her.  Her small size and very small hands have made finding something for her a real challenge.

If you can find a Taurus PT22, they're 8+1 rounds, 1 more than the Beretta 21A Bobcat. They made a PT22 Poly that weighs almost the same, but the polymer may be cheaper than the metal frame version.

Might also be good for a NAA mini as pocket back-up. I keep CCI Mini-Mags in mine along with some with snake shot. Would love to see a comparison between these and Mini-Mags...ie accuracy, speed, and power.

Someone did a comparison between Federal Punch and CCI Stingers from a handgun and a rifle. It was IraqVeteran8888 IIRC. It looks like the Punch is better in short-barreled handguns, because that's what it was designed for, and the Stinger is better for rifles. I wasn't paying much attention so I don't know the details. Federal says the Punch achieves 1,070 fps through 2-inch barrel handguns. Mine is 1 5/8" + it's a .22 WMR length cylinder, so they should work in my NAA Mini.
