On the advice of a friend, I picked up a case of the Atlanta Arms reloaded 45ACP 185GR JHP, and its been shooting well in my 1911. However, I don't have access to a chrono and my first major match is tomorrow. Will this ammo make major, or should I play it safe and take my S&B 230 230 gr with the 197 power factor?

It's a little late to think about it but you might try to contact them and see what they say since it is their product.

I thought all .45 ACP made major except some match target ammo. Is your ammo match or regular?

If you have a concern play it safe. Contact the match director, or read their entry information, and get what they recommend. When I look at major matches they almost always have a couple brands that if you have new purchased ammo they will accept. If they don't have any designated brands, pick up a batch of name brand new (white box Winchester, UMC, MagTech, etc.) and avoid any possible issues.
I know it is too late for you for this weekend, but when I travel (fly) out of state to a match I order everything I need from Midway and have them ship it ahead to the motel I'm staying at.

Just for the record
The chrono was broken at this weekend's match, but I spoke with the folks at Atlanta Arms this morning and they did confirm that the remanufactured 185gr JHP should make major in a 1911. They said the *new* 185 gr ammo was loaded lighter for bullseye.
