Is the charging handle reciprocating or non-reciprocating? Do they make a right-handed upper with the charging handle on the left side?

It's reciprocating, I believe they do make a left side version but it ejects on the left side.

If it reciprocates I'd need it on the right side, but it's no problem to reach over the top, like I do with my shotgun, if it doesn't have an optic. They make one in .22 Magnum that looks interesting.

I'm thinking about getting one in 7.62x39 next, will have to see how the budget holds up.

I've never had an AR in 7.62x39mm but have read that some have feeding problems. The straight magwell wasn't made for mags with enough curve to handle the cartridge. That's one reason there are hybrid ARs that take AKM mags.
