Title: Dikec Yusuf - Check this guy out
Post by: MikeBjerum on August 03, 2024, 08:56:50 AM
Dikec Yusuf

Olympic Silver Medalist from Turkey.

Check this guy out!

Walks up to the firing line in air pistol, no special glasses, no heavy coat or pants. Just a T-shirt and jeans, as if he was plinking in the back yard. He walks away with an Olympic Silver Medal!

Lesson to us all: Don't let the gear overload keep us away. Don't stay away because we don't have all the latest and greatest. Pickup your gun, go to the range, join a club or league, and HAVE A GOOD TIME!

He did have some experience in the military shooting, but basically while going through a divorce he took up the Olympic pistol shooting to relieve stress.  Reading between the lines I think his ex might have said he'd never amount to anything.  Because, rumor has it, after he got the silver medal he was heard to say to the camera, <wife's name> I want my dog back.

Very cool.  No sponsor, no "uniform", no fancy gear, and when he got done shooting he wanted to know where the smoking area was.

When you can shoot, you can shoot. One of the greatest Trap shooters that ever lived was Leo Harrison III. He shot a box stock Remington 1100 Trap.

Some of those were beautiful guns. Other than a Monte Carlo cheek piece the trap guns weren't set up much differently from plain M11100s. But that wood...
