Not a sale, but the very top of one of my model-railroad newsletters this morning.

Not a sale, but the very top of one of my model-railroad newsletters this morning.

Not many people remember what it means. Unless you are ex-military or a family member, most think of it as just another day off. They don't seem to realize what the day means and just how this country stays "Free".

As always, Freedom is not, and has never been, free.

It is not just another day off is 100% on mark.  My dad always had a flag up for Memorial Day and sometimes for the 4th of July.  But then he fought on Saipan, Peleliu and Okinawa.  We never took the day lightly.

The family on the right is what Memorial Day is all about. It is not a day of celebration and partying. It is to remember the sacrifices of so many that gave all for and on behalf of the rest of us.

Unfortunately, most people seem to think Memorial Day is just a day for grilling outdoors. And it makes for a 3 day weekend. Normally I spend the long weekend with my friends, riding my Polaris freedom machine. But I'm stuck at home and will probably shop some of the sales.

20% off all Side Chargers at Devil Dog Concepts. Front, Rear, and Tactical mounts. Models for forged Mil-Spec uppers, billet machined uppers, AR-10 and SIG 716 rifles. Folding handle or 5 optional fixed handles.

I'll post my PSA on the difference between Memorial, Veterans & Armed Forces day Sunday night.

The sales are there so might as well take advantage.  Home Depot, Milwaukee Tools.  I got a drill/driver w/ 2 batteries and charger, 5Ah battery and the 500CFM leaf blower for 46% off.  That includes my veteran's discount.  The leaf blower alone was less than a replacement battery for my Ryobi blower which I now need.  (Gradually changing from House of Slytherin Ryobi to House of Milwaukee.)

I ordered a $159 RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Whisper Series 130 MPH 450 CFM Cordless Battery Leaf Blower (Tool Only). Free with $199 RYOBI ONE+ 18V Lithium-Ion HIGH PERFORMANCE Starter Kit with 2.0 Ah Battery, (2) 4.0 Ah Batteries, and Charger. I think that will be 8 batteries total I have for my drill, sawzall, weed whacker, and leaf blower. 450 CFM is pretty good for a cordless blower with an 18V battery. I have a Stihl gas-powered leaf blower/shredder vac in my shed that I haven't used in years. I think it's 400+ CFM. I need to see if it works or not, and sell it.
No veterans discount on this order, but I used the last 7 bucks or so of credit on a gift card I had.

I just ordered a Memorial Day Special Deal Olight i3E EOS Stars & Stripes. And an Oclip Pro Stars & Stripes Edition + Oclip Headlamp Strap, with a free Velcro patch for 15% off. Not a great deal, but it sure looks good, and I was already thinking about getting another Oclip. The head strap is 8 bucks extra and might come in handy someday.

I also ordered a 2025 Snake Coin made of brass, 1.97" (50mm) diameter from Olight. It was $6.99, for Platinum and higher members only. This is the first coin I bought from them IIRC. It has an Arkfeld Ultra on the front and Oclip Pro on the back.

The Home Depot delivered my leaf blower and battery bundle a few minutes ago. I mounted one of my old battery chargers to the leg of my workbench today. I screwed in 2 sheet metal screws so far the charger barely fit over them. I pushed it down and it's nice and snug. I rolled up the extra wire and tied it up with 2 zip ties, so there's only a thick loop of wire between the charger and the plug. Nothing dangling down toward the ground. I plugged it into the far right outlet of the power strip and left it there after I topped off 2 batteries.

It looks like I have 10 Ryobi ONE+ batteries now, but one is only 1.5Ah. The rest are all 2Ah and 4Ah. The small one is only good for use in my drill, because I don't drill a lot of stuff at a time. If I need to do heavier work I plug in the 3/8" corded drill. I don't use the 1/2" drill very often, because it's so big and slow. I have one charger that sets on top of the battery and it's good enough for the 1.5 Ah. The other batteries clip into the other 4 chargers. I can put 2 2Ah batteries on their sides in each of the biscotti tubs, and lay a 2Ah and 4Ah battery on their sides on top, but can't quite get 2 of the 4Ah batteries to fit that way. I have a 4Ah battery in my vacuum, but need to empty another tub for a couple other batteries. I gave my friend a couple dozen of these tubs and he has them stacked up in his garage to store stuff in.

Love my new Milwaukee blower.  It actually pushes you backwards.  500CFM.  Got the old Ryobi 350CFM, 40V battery and charger to give to one of the kids.
I'm down to 2 ryobi fans, a drill, one tire air compressor and one pool toy compressor.  I think I have 6 batteries of all sizes.  I'll just use those till they die.  No hurry to replace those tools, though when the drill goes I get another Milwaukee.  On sale of course.

National Trading Co. (NTC).

15% Off All Orders over $50! USE PROMO CODE: NTCMEM25

Valid Through Midnight May 27th

I just ordered a fire piston, and something to bring my total over $50. I've been saving a few Altoids tins to fill with scraps of cloth to make char cloth in a campfire. Altoids tins leak enough air without needing any holes poked in them. I have an old bathrobe made of thin cotton cloth I'll try, and if it doesn't work well enough I'll use old denim scraps. I used pieces of my robe to clean my VRF14 when I ran out of patches. I saved it to use for patches in the first place.

My Ryobi ONE+ 18 volt tools. The drill came with a 1.5Ah battery that's the same size as all the 2Ah batteries, just less capacity. And it came with a small charger. I think the 13" string trimmer came with a 2Ah battery and charger. The rest of the tools were tools only, but I got a few of them free when I bought the battery kits, and I bought another 2Ah battery when I bought the drill. I think that's that's how it all worked out. Anyway. I have 1 little 1.5Ah battery, 5 regular 2Ah batteries, and 4 of the bigger 4Ah batteries. The small battery is in the drill and the other 9 are in 3 biscotti tubs. They hold 3 2Ah batteries and 1 4Ah battery lying on there sides, with an inch to spare on top. I have the small charger for the drill in a Ziploc bag in one. One big charger is on the workbench, and the other 3 are in 2 boxes the battery kits came in. I have an 18 volt Harbor Freight Warrior drill that's still hanging in there, but I can smell the motor burning when I use it. It's okay for driving a few screws, but serious drilling would probably catch it on fire.

Here's how the batteries fit in the biscotti tubs, 2 2Ah on the bottom, and a 2Ah with a 4Ah on top. And the charger stuck to the leg of my workbench, next to the power strip.

P.S. My 1/2" beam torque wrench and barrel wrench for the UTG PRO M-LOK AR15 15" Super Slim Free Float Handguard is visible on the shelf in the last pic. There are lots of other things that still need to go back on the shelf.

FedEx delivered my Ryobi Multi-Purpose Reciprocating Saw Blade Set (35-Piece) today. It will be a lot easier cutting out a 4" tree root with a reciprocating saw than an ax. There are 7 6" 6tpi wood blades, 7 6" 8tpi wood blades, 3 9" 3tpi wood blades, 3 9" 6tpi wood blades, 3 9" 8tpi wood blades, 2 6" 14tpi metal blades, 2 6" 16tpi metal blades, 2 6" 24tpi metal blades, 2 4" 14tpi metal blades, 2 4" 16tpi metal blades, and 2 4" 24tpi metal blades. One thing I need to do is trim the bottom corner of my shed door where it drags on the driveway. I was afraid to do it before because my saw only came with 1 6" blade 6tpi wood blade. If I broke it I was screwed. This is the last of the Memorial Day Sale stuff I bought.
