Title: Gun Cleaning Stuff
Post by: Big Frank on June 15, 2025, 12:49:08 AM
I got a Breakthrough Clean Technologies Pivot Lock from Detroit Ammo Co. Saturday. It was 50 cents cheaper than getting it directly from BCT. It's all aluminum so it weighs very little, and won't scratch the finish on anything.  BCT also sells it in combination with their AR-15 Lower Block or their AR-15 Bore Guide. The Bore Guide has a hole to attach the Pivot Lock to. I don't think I've ever seen a bore guide with that. And the Lower Block has an Integrated Hammer Stop that safely permits dry firing without causing any damage to the receiver, adding an extra layer of protection during maintenance. That would be good if you're doing any kind of trigger work, like on an adjustable trigger you want to test the pull on repeatedly. I kind of like their '40s pin-up style Handgun Mat and Rifle Mat, but I have all the mats I need, and I like mine better. The pin on the pivot lock inserts into the upper receiver lug, or bore guide, from either side. Then you lock it in with the takedown pin. I always take my upper and lower apart, but now I can stick my AR lower block in the vise, set the rifle on it, run a wet swab through the bore and leave it to get half of the work done for me. I'd rather have excess solvent run on the basement floor where it might clean a spot, instead of on a mat where it would get dirty. ;)
