Police departments do this all the time.

Because its not "PC", many departments refuse to sell their used guns to the public once they do an upgrade or change calibers etc...... Its a damn shame.... they are destroying perfectly good firearms and flushing money down the drain that could go towards fighting crime.

--------> That sure was a good looking 1911 that guy was holding

Not HKs fault.  It's one of those UN things.

I don't believe that and I am still not buying anything from HK. It is their fault.

Its like the swords into plowshares deal, but instead of plowshares new, shiny, cheaper German engineered swords.

Yes, there was some history that was destroyed, but these were not the last of there kind.  If you own one, your value went up.  Another way of looking at it:  The old Soviet Block's dignitaries were carted around in vintage Mercedes.  This is one over X, the exact oppisite.  I think I would take the same deal.  Hell, whadda gonna do? Shoot me? ;D
