What I'm wondering is, how is the ATALAH church generally regarded among African Americans? Is the Reverend considered a wacko or a serious leader? Surely some members here may know. Mainstream media is silent.

I would love to attend just one service at this man's church. Aside from being in complete agreement with his political views, it is refreshing to hear a non politically correct message from a preacher. Some religious leaders are now so afraid of offending others that it somehow became o.k. to be homosexual, among other things, and still consider yourself a good Christian. Forgive me for speaking my mind, it's only my opinion and is of no more value than the next guy's, but you either believe or you don't. When it comes right down to it, grey areas don't exist, only right and wrong. Spontaneous rant concluded.

I was in a newcomer's class for a Presbyterian church in my old home town, ultra liberal town, Evanston - yup the same gun banners that wimped out when threatened with a NRA lawsuit. Anyhow, 2 of the women in the newbie class had gay brothers, one died of AIDS, and they were all full of God won't deny them Heaven, right and demanding that the pastor acknowledge that beging actively gay was OK, make them a Deacon and all.
So, being the shy retiring type that I am (my last work review labeled me "irreverent") I pointedly and loudly asked the Pastor if he would allow a person he knew was an active adulterer to be ordained as a Deacon. He replied immediately "Of course not!" - and then it sunk in what he had said - and what I had done.
Mission accomplished. The plaintive "Why me?" look in his eyes was priceless.
Stand up to evil - be a Christian Warrior, not a wuss.

Gay Christians are easily proven to be idiots, the Bible says that men sleeping with men is "an abomination to God" only an idiot would WANT to join an organization that thinks they are lower than whale sh!t.
It's like a black guy joining the kkk.
