Title: Interesting and well balanced article on gunblast.com about gun control

http://www.gunblast.com/Booth-GunControl.htm

I particularly like the part where the author puts the emphasis on more efficient enforcement, rather then more legislation.

Maybe someone should mail this link to the Brady Bunch?  ;D

Ocin, the issue in the US is not really about public safety and crime. The real intent is to create social conditions where government can willfully turn away from the principles of a Democratic Republic, empower a minority of citizens to dictate terms of existence, and do so with a minimum amount of meaningful resistance by the victimized majority. Examples? Pick and socialist or communist nation.

Europeans can not comprehend the mindset involved here. Europeans are "Subjects" of their respective govt.'s a hold over from the days of Monarchy when they were Property of the King. Therefore they only have the privileges that Govt. thinks they should have.
Americans are "Citizens" of what has always been a Republic where govt has only the powers listed in the Constitution, and may not usurp any others with out the consent of the governed (Constitutional amendment like the 16th that created the individual income tax)
The 2nd Amendment is the mechanism by which the people retain the power to enforce the Constitutions protection of individual liberty. Many people forget that the Soviet Union had a Constitution as well, but no means for the people to protect themselves from tyranny.

Obligatory "Gun control means using two hands when you shoot" comment.

Today was range day for the October concealed carry class I work as instructor. A past class graduate and competitive 1911 shooter, enrolled his daughter, a first time shooter, to the class and she held a loaded, .38 revolver for the first time today. He taught her the fundamentals with the old H&R, .22, years ago, but today was her first time with a "real gun".

I scored the targets when we finished. She had two hits in the 9-ring, the rest were 10s and a fair amount were X-ring. I gave him a thumbs up from the firing line back to where he was watching from the shelter and could see the broad grin. When we made safe, secured from the line and went to the rear, he actually had a tear rolling down his cheek in Daddy-Pride. Been there myself in years past.

That generational transmission of skills and values is the Founding Fathers intended definition of "gun control" in America.
