According to his autobiography he really enjoys bird hunting and sporting clays. He also took animal rights folks to task.

Can't afford one of his guitars...I guess I can't afford a shotgun either.

If Osama gets elected, maybe the "wealth spreading" welfare check he sends you will be big enough to pick one up. ;D

Just because Slowhand is English does not mean he does not appreciate firearms. His fellow bandmate Steve Winwood used to come by the gunstore and indoor pistol range in Nashville that I managed with his father to shoot. These guys not only rocked out with American based blues but liked to shoot as well.

Jay, what is it about Guitars and Guns ? Several people I know who shoot also play with varying ability ;D

I can't speak for Jay, but as far as I'm concerned, nothing can complete a day of hunting or shooting like relaxing on the porch with a fine guitar. Also, six shooters and six strings... just a coincidence? I think not. ;D

Steve Winwood is great. Between the four groups he was in and his solo career he had about 30 albums plus several best of albums in 43 years. He came out with a new one this year, and he still tours, and he and Clapton still play together occasionally. I'm listening to Spencer Davis Group - I'm a Man on youtube right now. He was only 18 then, so he was a man, but just barely. ;D Keep On Running still sounds good too. Too bad my ex got my Arc Of A Diver tape, the b*tch.

Good question...it's probably random, but a GOOD musician has a "feel" thing going on that might translate well into aiming, trigger squeeze, and all that. It's probably still just a coincidence.
Clapton has been my biggest guitar influence through life, although by far not the only one. Winwood was also a big influence with S.D., Traffic and his solo stuff. I saw Winwood last year at the Borgata in Atlantic City, mostly because a friend of mine was playing sax, flute, organ, and everything else with him. I was amazed that (from the audience) he looks the same and he SOUNDS the same as he did 35 years ago, only smoother. Amazing. It's a good show.
