Post by: Roy Hill on October 28, 2008, 09:50:22 PM
Here's the link to the USA Today story with the interview with Dan Cooper, owner of Cooper Firearms in Montana.

Well, I guess you can add one more to the growing list of companies I refuse to support.  I found it enlightening when the article said Cooper donated $1000 to BHO's fund in '04, "after he was dazzled by Obama's speech at that years National Democratic Convention."  Umm... uhh... errr...  I guess meaningless speeches, read from a teleprompter, will take you wherever you want to go.  Even the White House.

Title: Update: Montana rifle maker supports and donates to BHO campaign
Post by: ericire12 on October 28, 2008, 10:29:21 PM
Update: Here is his official statement on his website:

Quote
Regarding the USA Today Article. Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc. did not contribute and does not support in any fashion the campaign of Senator Obama.

Nine months ago Dan Cooper (personally) made an online donation to the campaign in an effort to help defeat Hillary Clinton and in protest of American plant closures and the shipping of jobs overseas.  Three months ago he made yet another donation to the McCain campaign and the RNC totaling over twice that given to Obama campaign.

There is no doubt that the article in USA Today has caused a considerable response.  To this end we are encouraged and stand with our fellow NRA members and supporters of the Second Amendment and against those who oppose it.

If Dan Cooper says he gave money to John McCain, it is an outright lie. Does he really believe the gun culture is so stupid that he can't be found out? All I did was go to the Federal Elections Commission website and it gives all reported donations to all Presidential candidates. Since McCain reports EVERYTHING unlike Obama, it would have shown up. His Obama contributions are right there for the world to see. Giving him some benefit of the doubt, I also checked McCain's website for donors in the primary (with Fed funding he isn't taking donations to the campaign after 8-31-08) as well as donors to his compliance fund. Dan Cooper's name is nowhere to be found.

Damn, I was coveting a Cooper varmint rifle. They are very nice rifles -- but not that nice that I will support a BHO supporter.
With friends like that we don't need enemies. :'(

 >:( Just for the record, I am NOT related to or affiliated with, this Cooper in any way!. I just happen to have an honorable name that is now sullied by its association with a hypocrite like this. Not that I was looking for a bolt-action rifle right now, but I can tell you that I will never buy one of his rifles. I am still stocking up on mags, ammo and AR's because of the support bho gets from idiots like this!

Hre is the list to all his donations filed with FEC:
http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?st=MT&last=cooper (http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?st=MT&last=cooper)

This one is from Federal Election Comission website, enter Cooper Dan in the name field and chose Montana from the States list, thenclick 'Send Query' button below:

http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/advindsea.shtml (http://www.fec.gov/finance/disclosure/advindsea.shtml)

$6200.00 donated in total.

I couldn't find any contribution to McCain from this individual.

Cooper Firearms website makes it sound as though Danny-Boy is no longer associated with the company he founded.

I read on GlockTalk.com in the political issues page that the board members of Cooper guns were asking Cooper to resign from the company and retire.  Because of all the emails and phone calls from allof us law-abiding gun-owners that did business with the Cooper company rich642z ;D

Resigning from the board will not make a difference to me. I will never buy a Cooper now! I don't care who is or is not on the board. Just like I will not buy a Gillette razor -- screw em. I have a looooongg memory.

S'pose those damn nice looking rifles he makes are accurate enough to be classified as "sniper guns?"

I'd like to see Cooper's list of issues he bases his vote on.  The stuff he states in the article makes no sense at all.

As my wife would say." Dumb Shit "

What's dumber, his backing b-ho financially?

Or having the intelligence of a turnip to go out and freakin' LIE about it?

I would never get one of his guns anyhow, can't see spending a couple grand on a bolt action. Even so, they have a place in this culture, and that is fine. But for a gun manufacturer to be so damn clueless about b-ho that he actually told the USA Today wanker that he didn't think any of the allegations about b-ho's gun grabbing were proven demonstrates a complete lack of any grasp of reality.

Cooper obviously knows which end of the rifle to put to the shoulder and which end to point at the prey. Beyond that, all bets are off.
