Its not just you, I had to put up my .45 LC, Magtech 50 rds, almost $40.00. Plus .380 ammo is up, .45ACP is not what it used to be.
I'm considering a 7.62x39, and a FNH 9mm cause its the cheapest out there, for now.
Shooting slow is an option. :-\ But reloading gear is doing the same thing. BHO will probably increase the tax on brass and powder,..etc,..
Its a damn shame.

It’s hard to believe the cost of ammo, we should lock up the ammo instead of the guns! Looking at .223 hardball a $6-$8 per box it is insane. Lately copper has tanked in price, let’s hope component prices will follow!

I'm goin to start shooting alot of .22

Buy your ammo @ Walmart(I think there might be one or two of them there in AR. ;D) You should be able to get ammo for the three you mentioned for less than half what you paid, unless you are shooting super premium bullets. I personally wait for Midwayusa to run a sale on a certain type of ammo I am looking for and then I buy as many boxes as I can afford of it. If you are only going to buy ammo around hunting season you are going to pay more for it. I also have consolidated my rifle calibers over the last three years so that the majority of my guns are 22LR, 223 and 308, I have saved a lot by doing this.
I just looked on Midwayusa and if you purchased the 1 box of the Federal Fusion ammo for each cartridge you listed it would be less than 75 dollars which should still be a lot less than 100 dollars with the shipping seeing as you live in AR. Don't forget that almost all of the American ammo manufacturers have rebates running right now so if you purchased from different makers you could possibly get at least $15 back.

If you don't like Walmart there is nothing in the world stopping you from opening up a competitor. There is nothing that stops anyone from running co-ops that sell goods to their members. There are even some WEAKNESSES in Walmart's operations that invite competition, and their means of distribution is too heavily dependent on OTR trucking versus the much cheaper use of containerized rail transport. Heck I would be willing to bet that if one of its competitors focused more on selling American made products(like ole SAM himself did) they would be able to erode Walmart's market share.

How about investment capital, Yeah I know, I'm being difficult. I hear that a lot ;D

I've got an idea. We could pool our resources as a forum of fellow shooters and open an online ammunition company. We can buy our ammo at cost and sell at a reasonable price to help other shooters out. Heck, if we maintained a zero profit, zero loss status, we would save ourselves a ton in ammo cost. Yeah, I know its wishful thinking, but hey, where would we be without a dreamer here and there? ;D

[BACK TO AMMO. WELL AT LEAST RELOADING COMPONENTS.]
Purchased 500 .40S&W LSWC last Feb for $35. Went to the same store in September with box top in hand (so I would make sure to get the exact same brand) and the new boxes were marked $81. I called the clerk over told him about the serious mislabeling. He laughed and said they were gonna raise the prices another 5% next week, so I had better buy now.
EHHHHHHHHH! Went on-line, found the manufacturer, who sells direct at serious discounts. Bought 2000 rounds, (that's ~50#) for under $125. Shipped!

Don't hold back on us, what website did you buy from?

For 4 boxes at a time they use USPS flat rate shipping. My USPS lady murmured something about needing a chiropractor when she dropped my box off.
WARNING: The prices listed are MSRP. You have to call to ask for specials.
